Hi Subbie

Do you mean the front diff, rear diff, or both?

I have never done any work on them, but by all reports on here it is do-able.

On top of the page you will see "Old Lockers" Go into the locker of svxfiles. He has a picture or two in there. Have a look at the pics he has about a diff swap. [from standard US to 4.44]

Regards your question the USA got final drive of 3.54, which is a very high overdrive to suit their long highways.

All the rest of the world got 3.70, so your JDM and NZ models should be exactly the same.

Joe

[If you are still unsure, if you PM Tom [svxfiles] he will tell you what to watch for]

Joe

Here's the basics;

- Undo the 4 drive shaft/flange bolts
- Use a pry bar to "pop" the rear axles from the diff. You won't be able to completely remove them yet, just make sure they are free.
- Remove the two nuts on the rear studs of the diff
- Remove the 6(?) bolts that hold the front crossmember/nose of the diff
- As you lower the diff, you should be able to get the axles the reast of the way out.

One thing I forgot, the exhaust may want to get in the way as you try to lower the axles. You can work around it, or drop the midpipe also.
