another ac puzzler

My 94 svx is acing funky when it comes to ac. When I initially turn the car on, the ac on auto setting takes a moment but within 30 seconds or so, starts to rev up and blow cold air. But then 30 seconds later, the cold air ends and it stars to blow non-ac'ed air. I can hear a difference in the fans as the ac turns off. If IU am at alight, i can turn off the car and start the cycle again. Sometimes the ac decides to stay on then eventually peters out.

To sum up, I'm blowing cold when the car wants to
Freon is up to par
fan motors work
heat/ac white actuator bar under dash is working.
I appreciate any ideas or assistance, its starting to get hot, here in dc

cheers

ken

Mine started doing the same thing. It would go on and off and I paid little attention until my AC compressor went. A couple of years later it's doing it again. This time I just bought one of those Freon top off kits from the store. Fixed it. It is my understanding that when I ran the compressor without Freon it damages it? Anyway I'd double check your freon level.

The compressor should not cycle under normal operation. The most probable cause for the cycling is incorrect pressure caused by the incorrect amount of R12/R134 in the system.
