Starting in any position P R N D 3 2 1 !!!
How is this possible? Neutral switch? Where is it located? How hard is it to verify/adjust/replace?
Any suggestions welcomed.

The inhibitor switch appears to be mounted to the middle of the passenger's side of the transaxle.
 The service manual advises using a diagnostic box to test it.Does your cruise control work?

Does the indicator on the dash show the proper gear selected? If so then the indicator is working.
My next guess would be that the starter interrupt relay is seized in the closed position. Sorry, but I don't know where the relay is off hand.

Thanks for your replies... The gear indicator in the instrument panel and the cruise control are working fine...
