How loud is loud? I used to have that in the 95 camaro (base model) and it made it sound better -- yes louder too. But I thought it was not that bad.

Imagine a straight pipe cat-back. No resonator, no muffler, no tips. Now whack off *maybe* 3db.

In all honesty, the only problem that makes it unbearable is around 2000-2400 rpm. I get *serious* interior drumming under load in this range. Other than that, someone who's used to loud exhaust could live with it. Sounds AWESOME at idle and WOT (minus the resonant range mentioned above), and of course there's the cool burbling sound under engine braking.

Yes - that is the best part. I was sad to see that adding the glasspack made the burbling quieter on mine. I wish there was a way to keep that burbling but still quiet down the whole thing a couple notches.

Changed my exhaust again

Went with 2-1/4" pipes from the headers to a dual 2-1/4" in single out 2.5" high flow cat and then the same as before out back 2.5"- a glasspack and flowmaster 80.

Mellowed it out quite a bit and totally eliminated the buzzing I was getting from 2500-3000 rpm's

Also gained back some low end torque on the butt-o-meter. Seems to jump off the line better now. Not sure yet if I lost any top end.

The mechanic thought I was a moron for putting a cat back on the car.
"you think you're going to gain power by adding a cat"

I think Harvey was right - you need some kind of expansion chamber for the low rpm exhaust plug to expand.

I have flowmasters on my SVX...and they sound better then any exhaust i've heard. (havent heard stebro though)

Only thing is because my resonator was straight-piped, I get some resonance at a certain RPM....which should be easily fixed by putting a resonator back in.

With the 2 in 1 out cat and glasspack where the resonator used to be I have rid my exhaust note of any resonance (finally!)

I still miss the burble it had when I had no cats, no glasspack and only the flowmaster but the resonance an dvolume was too much.

It has a really nice flow thru design.... I have thought about putting in a big dynaomax muffler ebhind the cat,, and then a couple of little bullet mufflers near the back end. Not sure if that ones going to take shape tho.... I guess my point is, stay away from flowmasters unless you have a lot of cam.
A couple of use have flowmasters. Ive been told severlal times at meets that they sound less ricy then the magnaflows. I agree. To me the magna's have a tinny sound to them. However you might be able to just enlarge the pipeing after the muffler. A larger diameter can exhaust pipe can make a big difference.

The Stebro tone gets much lower once you lose the center cat. I wouldn't recommend losing all the cats though.

im back to add some input. ok my exhuast has a decent low tone but as i hit over 3 rpmish it goes away then comes back at 1 1/2 to 2 1/2ish. my system is dynomax and thrush. but i heard this one guys car with a really low tone and sounded awsome he had canister mufflers and i forgot the brand but they sounded good. and to believe what it was on was strange. a tiberan hyndai (spelling whoa). so my next exhuast project will be to replace the mufflers and the glass packs with canister mufflers. 4 to be exact to get rid of the packs and drop the sound. good idea bad idea input would be great. i do want to avoid the ricer sound like a motorcycle.
