Air bag sensor troubleshoot 92 SVX
Okay so I'm about to install a new airbag in my 92 SVX, original bag popped with very slight front bumper damage, slight mark on hood and slight mark on right front fender. I understand that I need to disconnect battery but even before I do that how do I check the sensor that set the original bag off? Do they reset themselves? If I were to read the wires at the bag should there be no voltage there and when the sensor trips it sends voltage to the bag to fire it? Once the bag is installed does the airbag light go off or do I need to do anything to reset it? Is there a way to reset the airbag light on the dash so it goes off without putting in a bag? Please only respond if you for sure know what you are telling me is true, I don't want this bag going off in my face and costing me more money.
Thanks in advance for any help. |

SRS sensors are never to be re-used. Most OEMs require the SRS computer to also be replaced after a firing.
You do not have the instructions, equipment or experience to properly diagnose or service the system. Leave it to the dealer or at least a very experienced body shop. Sorry, but you asked for info from someone that knows. Along with a number of ASE certifications I'm certified by Ford in many areas, including SRS.
