Mranderson this could be caused by the rear drive not working correctly. If as you say it pulls " pretty hard ", this the front wheels starting to loose traction. When this happends the transfer clutch should tighten up to move torque to the back wheels to prevent the front from spinning.

If the rear is not getting the drive, the front diff will suffer a lot of jaring that can lead to it breaking. Test it out on gravel or grass, get somebody outside to watch the front/back wheels, and do a hard take off. If all is well the front and rear should spin together. There should be no delay between them. If only the fronts spin, then the transfer clutch is defective. This can be fixed without pulling the transmission out, just the rear end.

If you do a search on transfer clutch, you should find all you need to know.

Ground wire

All stock svx's have a ground wire at each tailpipe. You can never have too many ground wires.
