That too, but I wouldn't figure it was the "main" purpose. Otherwise, the hood would've been made out of the same stuff.

probably a weight saver and

easier on their mold wallet. when the press the body parts they want to keep it simplistic. that is my guess anyway.

ABS vs. TPO vs. Steel

OK, if anyone is interested in this let me know. I'll be happy to start a long winded discussion on heat deflection temperature, Izod impact strength, tooling costs, paint adhesion issues, machinery requirements, energy absorption yaddah, yaddah, yaddah...zzzzzzzzzz
