You know, you already kinda have a predetermined idea about what kind of person they are... and if they sense that air about you, they're gonna get defensive/mean. Then you've got your stereotype... they fall right into it (mostly since you already put them there). I'm not tryin' to bust your b*lls, Rob... just sayin' an open mind and a patient attitude will go a long ways.

Come to think of it... I don't think I know any VW owners. Huh, weird. I have seen quite a few that REALLY had an obnoxious air of superiority about them... but I can't blame that on the VW.
Hey, there you go, you don't know any VW owners. :P

Seriously, I've met Aston Martin owners, Bugatti owners, Chrysler owners, chevy owners, dodge owners, ford owners isuzu owners, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc....and all the VW owners tend to fit into the EXACT same catergory: Snobbish, rude, and not very fun to be around. THey can all kiss my ass.

BTW, I'm going to the neon convention this week since its such a great bunch of people!

heh.

Meh. I don't think I've ever even seen an Aston Martin or Bugatti on the road... I'd like to see what they're like... although I would assume kinda stuck up. So, are they all going to line up for your arse-kissing session? Neon convention, huh? Too bad there should be a bunch of riced Neons. I still don't mind Neons too much... much better than Hondas.

I still dont know if we're going to let insurance know though...
Cool!!! Just do it. Keep it alive!!!! If not tell me which junkyard it is going to so that I can go get it out.

Serious disagreement here, Subafreak!! The SVX was a one-off for Subaru, definitely new ground broken for Fuji, but the Corrado was a remake of a previous model for Volkswagen..

The car I mean is the Mark I Scirocco, 74-81. This was the cutest small coupe made at the time, and designed by none other than our own Giugiaro.

This car ran on a Golf[Rabbit] chassis, and hit the market before the Mark I Golf. The press, and all God's chillun loved them. the only real criticism, they had very poor accommodation, no space inside.

VW rectified this by designing the Mark II in-house. It had more space, and better creature comfort, but the styling was way off, like a Germanic Nissan Sunny coupe. The press lambasted these for the mediocre things they were, and when VW came forward with the new coupe, the Corrado, they had reverted to the classic coke-bottle shape of the Mark I Scirocco.

I am convinced VW renamed what I consider to be the Scirocco Mark III as the Corrado, as they wanted to distance the new car from the design and marketing failure the Mark II had been.

For the same reason, I expect we will never see a "new" or Mark II SVX. The B11S is just that car, and Fuji will put miles of distance between that car and the SVX, because in this case, "comparisons are odious" They will not want the new car to be tainted with the marketing failure the SVX was, and are highly likely to sell it as an Impreza Coupe, to capitalise on the success the Impreza has become. Even though the Impreza never had a six cylinder power plant.

About time for VW to release a new coupe. Would be interesting with all the good engines they now have, and the 4wd chassis they can use. They are probably wary of taking sales from the Audi TT.

ARRRGGGG, this is really really confusing, and frustrating. I REALLY wanna keep my SVX or get another one...but everything seems to be going against me. My parents dont want me to get another SVX, and everything is going away from fixing mine. This really sucks.

So...anyone know of a similar quality (more reliable) car for under 5 grand? Oh wait, THERE IS NO SUCH THING, AHHH

Whatever happens, i'll still stick around here, and come to some local meets. This just really sucks...and on top of all this, i think im getting sick...

Thanks guys,
Scott

Thumbs up

Go for the VR6 Corrado, Scott.

Don't touch the G-Lader one. They cost as much in blowers as an SVX does in trannies.

Smaller, lighter, faster, what more do you want??

Oh, and I agree with Todd, Volkswagens do not have reliability problems over here. In fact, all German built motors, eg BMW, Merc, Audi and VW have very high build quality reputations here, and hold correspondingly high residual values. I left out Opels, but they are not in the same build league as the others.

Apply the same purchasing rules as for the SVX. Buy the best you can get. Do not fall in love with it before you check it out. Judge the car on condition, on how well it has been minded. Do not presume you have to buy the first car you find because they are scarce.

{ Are your Volkswagens built in the US or Mexico, rather than in Germany???}

Yeah, I've had my head in the sand. Gonna keep it there for a while longer. Maybe I'll hit 9K and quit.

That blue one on ebay in florida is looking tempting. Anyone know anything about it?
Scott: This is a great plan! This is exactly what happened to me and it all worked out great in the end. It was like a blessing in disguise. I paid $1200 for my totalled parts car and have realized around $6000 out of it from pricing stuff 'to sell'. And I still have a ton of parts left over. There is nothing like having a spare everything. Go get another SVX.

This is what I was talking about, Scott. See if you can go Stephen's route. I'm hopin' you can fight "the man" and hold onto an SVX... or two. We have faith that you can pull through on top of this one. And drink plenty of fluids.
