Coming close to my 60K miles maintenance (96K km).

Might be worth doing the water pump at while they're doing the timing belt, since the pump itself is pretty cheap and the labor involved is pretty much the same as doing the belt.

Just hit 60K on saturday. I have photos of the odometer turning over (a little blury since I was driving at the time) ... will post sometime. It was exciting. (did my 60K service about 6 months ago, so it was "exciting" instead of "bankrupting")

Question Expensive mistake?

Is it true that the timing belt in the SVX has a fail safe so that if it breaks it won't destroy your engine?

It's not the belt that has a failsafe. The Engine is a "non-interference" engine, which means that if a timing belt breaks, the pistons won't crash into the valves, destroying your engine.
