Alternative to replacing your whole remote. (pics/how-to)

The idea sprung into my head today during class, as i was picking at the cracking peices of my remote. I noticed that the whole plastic sheet with the button and SVX logo is just glued on to the remote "chassis".
When I got home, I went to work:
1) Remove the plastic sheet, and scrape off the glue.

2) Find a suitable material laying around the house. I found this old planner that had about the same weight/thickness of the stock plastic.

3) Cut out a peice the size of the depression on the face of the remote, I used an exacto knife.

4) Use double stick tape (or glue for more permanent) to attach your new cover!

(I turned it over so the fake leather side is down)

5) Put everything back together! (could be done w/o taking apart the remote)

Now...my question is, why doesnt anyone produce replacement covers like this? I'm sure a printer could print up some decent looking designs/logos. The cost of production wouldnt be high, and you could just slip them in an envelope to ship...for like $1.25. I'm looking at you Dayle!
