Selling my beloved BlueBaru

I feel awful about it, and even went so far as to say i'd never sell her, but money is tight and only getting worse... I put out a feeler in the classified section of the site to see what the interest level would be. If you have any questions, just shoot me an email at: thegr8dane@gmail.com

I tend to not notice PMs haha.

I'm not in a huge rush to sell it, but I just wanna see what people think. of course it's my only car and my DD so i'd need to find a replacement fast, should it sell. I'm also not too negotiable on the price, but with a little incentive i figure i could lean a little.

Anyway, just thought i'd let you guys know, cuz it breaks my heart to do it, but sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet

Brooks upped their tuition again? So sorry to hear you've been forced to give up the SVX. Wouldn't you rather give up food? But in all seriousness, I tried to get an SVX while I was in college, and couldn't hack it (too expensive) so I settled for an XT and waited another 6 years for the car of my dreams. Point being; get another cheap Subaru, then wait for the right SVX to come along. In the meantime $6200 will buy you a lot of film stock. Good luck with the sale, and keep in touch.

Re: Selling my beloved BlueBaru

hahaha

thanks, and much appreciated!

I actually saw some cheap volvos and an Impreza OBS in my range sifting through CL and the local classifieds.

Much as i love sporty coupes, i need something that primarily will cost me a lot less on insurance. Beyond that I just want something that can either haul stuff, be economical, or ideally: both.

The Volvo S70/V70 is an excellent car, and very very inexpensive now. Watch out for the AWD ones. They have center diff problems.

Funny you should mention the V70, I was looking at this T5, any recommendations?

I also saw this and was hesitant because i've heard that 850's had issues, but for a thousand bucks, it's pretty intriguing if i could talk the owner down to say, 750 or 800?

Re: Selling my beloved BlueBaru

The one in that autotrader link is a GLT. There's nothing wrong with a GLT, but the T5's are great. They have the same high pressure turbo engine as the "R" (I had a V70 R and it was incredible). They're very quick for a wagon - a little faster than an SVX. No car on the road has more comfortable seats than a V70 either. As long as you don't get an AWD, they're pretty much bulletproof. They're also very easy to work on.

The 850's arent bad. Especially the 96-97. Avoid the earlier models. Also, believe it or not, of the V70's 98 is the best year. 99 and above have an electronic drive-by-wire setup which was very problematic.

Oh, Volvo's also have the best factory stereos of any car. Truly. It'll knock your socks off.

Mike

Re: Selling my beloved BlueBaru

So far, everything sounds pretty likable to me. I've also found a couple others that interest me, particularly the S90. Even though I prefer the wagon bodystyle, the S90/940/960's inline-6, (gutsy, yet economical) and RWD certainly are attractive to me:

And as for a couple wildcards, does anyone have input on either of these?

I know, that MPV is a little goofy, i hate the design but i love the packaging. Unfortunately, it seems to get pretty paltry mileage.

I prefer Saabs over Volvos for the most part, but I find their post-'90 wagons sexy, and there don't seem to be many Saabs available where I live

Re: Selling my beloved BlueBaru

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=48914

^^^ Alright guys (& gals) You know you want it...

...please take it! I'm deciding to sell it before I leave because I need to get myself a compact pickup that I can just haul my stuff in. I'm looking for a Ranger, S10, Tacoma/Hilux, or Frontier with (preferably) an extended cab and a regular/short bed with an automatic tranny. it can be 2wd or 4wd, either is fine with me. And having stepsides would be cool but it's not necessary. I'd like to get a camper shell, or have it be cheap enough that I could get one myself for it.

I liked the volvos, but after looking harder, i've noticed that replacement parts are expensive and so is the maintenance, so I need something more reasonable.

I'm not as interested in getting a medium-size SUV because I don't really need the extra seats that often, or the added weight of the body cutting into gas mileage.

I could be interested in a 4runner....but honestly I prefer a pickup with a canopy because then I don't have seats and junk taking up space in the interior making it difficult to place all my cargo.

Anywho, I've done enough talking, take a look!
