Thumbs up Re: Every member please check in here!

Hi Tony

You are very welcome on here man.

Personally I'm not usually a fan of the wedge shape of the XT, but that car of yours looks like it is in really good condition.

Respect, man, that is nice.

Joe

Re: Every member please check in here!

Hi everyone! Fairly new here, just purchased a beautiful 96 LSi in Laguana Blue. I am the second owner, and with 74,000 miles, it was in good enough condition to sell at a Subaru dealer. Interior is mint, no rips in leather, cracks or scuffs whatsoever. Outside, the lights and grille need to be reconditioned as the are a little yellow, but not bad. The paint was in good condition for being 13 years old, the worst being the rear spoiler. It was thin in a few spots, and had the normal dings in the hood from rock chips. I saw another member that had good success at Maaco, and decided to get the spoiler painted. $275 to remove, paint, and reinstall. $1050 to paint the whole car with Dupont, 2 stage, their best job, including repainting all the wipers (surface rust) and sanding down the hood to bare metal to fix the dings. I talked him down to $900. It looks AWESOME! The SVX decals on the sides shattered upon removal, so I need to pick up a set of those. It could use a set of speakers, I hear a little valve tapping too. No transmission or bearing issues at this time. Still in 3 month bumper to bumper, so back it goes to check the engine noise and to have the front rotors cut, A GREAT RIDE!! My wife and I are hardcore Subaru people, we have an 06 Forester X Premium and 06 Outback L.L Bean. I attached a few photos, let me know what you think! You can see the other cars in the background. Thanks, Joel

Joel. Was looking at your pics. If the car is turned off the radio antenna should automatically retract even if you leave the radio on. That would be covered on your warranty.

Re: Every member please check in here!

Hey everyone! I've always loved these cars but didn't really have enough money to get one, but luck came my way. I bought my friends 92 legacy wagon for next to nothing, fixed that, and then had enough to get my ebony 92 LS-L last April. I tested it out and the transmission seemed strong and nothing else seemed too horrible so I bought it. It had a few issues though: valve cover gaskets needed to be replaced; the exhaust has a leak; on the way up from Denver when i depressed the gas pedal there was a rubbing belt noise??; and it would idle pretty rough. I wanted a project so instead of just replacing the valve cover gaskets, I decided to do the entire reseal. I started this because I wanted to learn about the car and have a full understanding the motor, and also to have the security of knowing that I have a sound engine under my hood. Anyway I got the reseal kit and some new motor mounts from allwe'lldrive. I finally got all the gaskets and o-rings labeled and figured out where they should all go (i'm going to do a full write-up when i'm done with pictures). Next I pulled the engine and started to take things apart. Now here is where my current predicament begins... One night I got a little too excited about the project, and didn't read the manual before removing the camshafts (very bad move), so i ended up cracking both camshafts. A couple days ago I was going over everything, cleaning, installing seals in the different sub-assemblies and noticed that I cracked the journal bearings on both heads too! So now i'm stuck until i get some more money for either some new heads or maybe a new motor. I know that the motor would probably be cheaper, but i think i like knowing that everything is sealed properly and in good condition so i think i'm going to just get the heads. I'm not too discouraged though, i'm just learning (which can cost a lot of money sometimes). Sooo anyway, that's my story so far...

Here it is when i first got it home
