Re: how to change the O'ring on the transmission wiring harness

I don't know about anyone else, but that was a very slow download for me- this is the quick/dirty version:

I know on the newer cars that there is a bolt on a retainer and then the harness/connector pulls out, with the o ring on the connector. I *think* that is just in there with friction (clips in/squeeze and then pull like a pill bottle to get out), but I'm not home with my manuals. With the pic so people don't have to download 202MB, someone may chime in who knows for certain.

thanks man! for making it easier. I want to change this O'ring without disasembling the tranny, so I do not have acces to the inside if this harness... I'm afraid of braking the white plastic part if I force it... I prefer to hear from others with more knowledge than me on this. According to this diagram you kindly show here, there's nothing locking it from inside, so it would be just a matter of pulling it out...

Re: how to change the O'ring on the transmission wiring harness

I have never seen this with my own eyes, but I think that you need to compress the three "tangs" on the plastic part from the inside to release it.... and you need to install the new O-ring so that you pull the inside ends of the wires thru it...

So you might not be able to do it from the outside.

More and more I think I'll have to disassembly the inside of this, discconect the internal connectors to be able to insert the new O'ring... I'ts going to be harder than I thought when I bought the tranny. Well, no hurry, it's -20 centigrades outhere so I'll do what I can.

When you go to remove the plastic clip from the inside of the transmission, expect the plastic to break.
I have never seen one that did not break.
Just saying.

What to do then? just glue it with cyanoacrylate or replace the whole harnes?
how to avoid oil leaks through that piont the simpliest way, without disassembling or braking anything?

"was it necesary to unlock something from inside or just pull it out from the outside?"
It has to be unlocked from the inside, and all that I have seen have become brittle over time and exposure to heat.
However if you can clean the outside harness/case with brake cleaner you MIGHT be able to seal it with Permatex Right Stuff. (For example.)

Yeah, I thougth that too. Thank you very much.
can I ask you one more question?
the tranny I boght is missing one "axle shaft" that locks inside one of the "differential bevel gear" inside the final front differential case. It's marked 120kgrams to pull it out, Do you have any methot to extract it so I can transfer it from my old tranny to the new one?

Poke a drift or phillips screwdriver in the roll pin hole, and pop it out using a quick slap on a prybar used like a seesaw.
