Some of these questions can narrow down your search.

Prices:
Nice 97's I see going for $7000-$8500
Nice 94's I see going for $4000-$5000
Nice 92's I see going for $3000-$4000
Good 92's I see going for $1500-$2500
Poor 92's I see going for $1,200-$1500
Parts cars I see going for $500-$850

When I say Nice I mean Low Millage "Garage Queens", Mint Inside and Out.
I would say that the NICE ones you have above are priced a little low. If you are lucky, you will see that price, but usually a little higher.

Rust has not been a problem in our area because we are not in the RUST BELT. There have been some very low mileage and mint cars found in your area in the last couple of years. You may get lucky and find one of those. There is an upcoming meet in Vancouver in June. Look for it in the area forums under northwest. You can talk to members and get a lot of quesitons answered there. If I can personally answer any questions for you, I am more than happy to do so. Good luck on your quest and I wish you luck. Remember to not fall in love with the first one you find. If it is a good one, that is fine, but if it has some problems, you are better to wait for another one. Hope to meet you soon.

I am not too picky about the interior being cloth or leather, I would prefer cloth, but that would definitely NOT make or break a sale
I would prefer a sunroof
I like the bright red a lot Or the black
And I would prefer the ODBI, since I would plan on eventually doing the 5-speed swap, and I wouldn't be able to stand the check engine light being on constantly haha

19?! Wow, he's my idol
I definitely would like a Japanese RHD. That would be so cool I think

And I'm very glad we aren't in the Rust Belt, that would make things pretty difficult
I will wait for one of the very low mileage and mint cars then
I definitely wanna come visit and see these 19 SVX's. For your 20th you should get the black one
I will look into the meet, I have only seen three SVX's in the entire 18 years of my life, so I need to see more haha.
And don't worry, I won't fall in love with the first one. I've already gotten screwed on a purchase already. Definitely won't do that again!

But thanks for all the input and suggestions and help guys, I really appreciate it all

Based upon your preferences, the car that would meet all of your criteria above would be the 1995 LS

AWD, beige velour cloth in both the Brilliant Red and Ebony Black Pearl, sunroof and OBDI

However, the beige cloth does not hold up too well and finding this particular car may be hard.

I don't know what your price range is, but one of the nicest cars on the network is for sale. New engine, already has the 5-speed, beautiful new paint (done right), complete new leather interior, and needs absolutely nothing!

Read his ad in the For Sale Forum....1992 Claret with 5 speed

Here is another version as listed on Ebay.....Ebay listing

Re: Couple Questions on Buying an SVX!

Honestly if you have the money and don't mind traveling to NJ, I'd say buy this one. She's not black or red but my god she's an amazing car. If I had the funds I would have been all over this the moment it went up for sale..

Re: Couple Questions on Buying an SVX!

And only 200,000 miles on it!

Might consider a lower mileage, maybe 30,000 or so miles that will smell and look and drive like a new car!

For an unrelated topic, I would suggest staying out of the "rust belt", though...

Keith

Hard to imagine one with 200,000 miles on it smelling like a new car! Oops, sorry, you didn't say you wanted the new car smell.

30k miles? You'd be lucky to get that in an svx. If you want it to smell new, just get an air freshener.

I wouldn't mind it hahaha
But I will not be too picky about miles as long as it is very well maintained.

As far as buying one of these beauties, I cannot buy one of this high of quality just yet. I need to save up a bit more. I am graduating from high school this June so I have only a part time job with not so many hours. So I will have to wait till I get a full time job this summer. Thanks again for all the warm welcomes and help

Re: Couple Questions on Buying an SVX!

I just would love to find another lo-mileage SVX!!

I would buy it in a heartbeat. The real nice lo-mileage ones are the only ones that will, down the road, ever be worth anything.

There are people on this form that have no maintenance records for their cars to prove that they are well maintained but would be great to own... because they themselves meticulously maintain them... bottom line... how could you really know.

Yeah your right. I don't have any of my records from before I owned the car and for a while when i first got her I was just tossing out reciepts for stuff. I keep everything now, even if they aren't organized very well.

If someone has been maintaining the car, you can usually tell. If it is a mess, then they probably have not. If you look at the usual things and none have been done, they have not been on top of it.

Well said Earl... if you know what the "usual things" are. Of course, we all do, but what about the "new guy"?

The dealers would all get the thing detailed, which wouldn't fool most of us, but what about the "new guy"?

I would be more than happy to tag along when he decides to look over a potential car. The details and findings can always be posted here for second opinions.
