Airbag light comes and goes

Hi all,

My airbag light has been coming and going the last few days. It will just randomly turn on while I'm driving or come on with the car. It'll stay on till I turn off the car and may or may not come back when I turn it back on. So, I searched and I did find a thread where it was fixed, but my situation is a little different, because mine comes and goes and his was constant:

So, I would like to get it fixed of course, but first off, while the airbag light is on, the airbag won't work, right? So where do I go from here?

Pull the air bag codes (Should be a howto in the howto section) and see what the code is for, I'd also check the wiring under the dash and make sure all the connectors are fully seated. The wiring for the air bag is all yellow...

you are correct though, if the light is on, the air bag system is disabled.

I would check all the after market equipment wiring harness. I understand that the airbag system is pretty reliable, I have never seen one go bad myself.

Thanks guys, I agree it is most likely a wiring problem. Where is the control module located?

Today on the way to work it came on again, but on the way back from work it stayed off. I'll tear it apart tomorrow when I have some time. If I can't figure it out, I'll give you a call.

hi the air bag module is in the center of the car under the radio ,by your description i would say its your roll connector ,does your horn work ?
the test connector is in the bottom of the a pillar ,its black connector and there are 2 black ground wires taped in the harness to use to test the system ,use pin 9 to read air bag codes

Well, if it's under the radio, then it's the likely candidate, the radio is aftermarket and too big for the space. It wouldn't surprise me if it was pressing on something it shouldn't.
