The frame is shiney black, I had the roll cage bent up today. I had to get the engine hoist repaired, A big tree blew down at my Mom's house, so I had to cut firewood in her flowerbed.
I am a couple days behind where I wanted to be, but still have a really good chance of gitten' er done.

Re: Sad cars rotting in barns

Man I know all about fixing up a car that's been sitting! My 68 Polara convertible has been sitting outside since 1980, except for the year and a half it spent in my shop before I lost it cuz dad and I couldn't afford it anymore Interior is completely trashed (seat frames are recoverable) and it has no top, but the body is straight and it runs and drives. (Not for very long though, the radiator is rotted out at the bottom so it sprays coolant everywhere)

TURN the water away and keep the weeds cut from the sides!

RAIN!! RAIN!! RAIN!!

I couldn't work on the truck so I called the lumber yard. I had the lumber delivered thursday for a 'NEW and IMPROOVED' carport!! My son and I spent 10 hours building a 13X24 ft addition onto the garage where the 46 was rusting. err, resting.. Now I have a place to weld and cut, OUTSIDE that will keep the rain off my neck!
ALSO, I have a place to put my 1928 GAS PUMP! (Found in a field, and donated by the landowner with the understanding that I will NOT sell it),
all the other old,'gas station'ee stuff that sits in boxes all around here.
I will be adding a 'gas station' facade to the roof.

The one bay will be full of antiques and yard sale stuff till I sell enough to get room to park a car in there again.
A couple years ago, I mentioned that I was going to build an 'old time' gas station here. WELLL, we DID it!

"Huckleberry's Place" is here!

The place that never did exist, but could have

The gas pump has a production date of 9-1939, I spent some time with it tonight.
It now has a 'saturday nite special drive by shooting' of paint!

It has really taken shape tonight!

Since I know that the truck is not going to be ready in 4 days, I worked on the '40's gas station instead. I did 'plaz' out some pieces for the bed though.

We went to the farm wed night and hauled the cab home.

I posted some pics on the 39-47 Dodge truck site and thevirtualjunkyard but ran out of time. I will try to start an album here tomorrow.

I haven't even updated the photobucket this year!

It's been verrry busy lately!

I would be happy with the lights working again on the pump!

Re: Sad cars rotting in barns

This 1951 Pontiac my boss picked up was more or less a barn find:

http://s136.photobucket.com/albums/q...t1787/Pontiac/

Inspection sticker says it was parked in 1979, at some point it was stripped down for restoration and the person lost interest. A friend of ours is a Subaru tech and a fan of Pontaics, he got the car and was kinda into it, but realized it was more work than he wanted to get into and put it behind his shop. He held onto it for 10 years or so, it was covered the whole time. My boss heard about the car when they were negotiating the body work on the Subaru guy's 1962 Pontiac Catalina Super Duty clone, my boss did the body work, the floors, painted the interior pieces and put the body in primer and took the 1951 Pontiac as payment.

With some fresh gas, it fired up and idled, but wouldn't rev because the accelerator pump had turned to dust. I rebuilt the carburetor and it runs very nice. Still running on some ancient ignition parts for now. Now that we know it runs good, it will be getting a full tune up.

We bled the brakes and they work good enough to move it around the parking lot.

Here is a short video of it:

The 46 got the cab set on tonight. When my son showed up, I was drawing lines all over the floor. I got out the PLAZ and dropped the cab 4". Before we started welding, I decided to slam it another 2 inches.

With the airbags, I should be able to set the door bottoms on the asphalt!

This truck LOOKS like it wants to HURT someone!!
It is starting to LOOK 'EVIL'!!

A 2000# truck with 'R' compound tires, 325 HP and a 4:11 posi rear!

We will be measuring the 'FUN' in G-FORCES!!

"EVIL STEPCHILD"!!!!

The 46 that nobody loves, 61 Chevy PU frame, 1980 Aspen 'Cop car' front end,
67 Ford pick-up,4:11 posi rear, 69 Benz fuel tank, 36 Chevy headlights. Then the
Fiberglass fenders, (Seconds) from Cobra Trikes, (Motorcycle style). Air dam on
front is 67 Corvette, rear spoiler from a 78 Plymouth. Bed cover from a 96 Ford
pick up and roll bar from Regal fence. Steering column is 75 Monti Carlo.
Shifter, 1/2 Hurst, other half Jack Nicolas. (using a GOLF club) Mirrors,
(outside) will be glued to the 'business end' of a right and left handed 6 iron
that has been cut down to fit the doors.
Hydraulics for the bed came off a 1996 Braun wheelchair lift, and the air bags
came off a dead Chevy low rider.
Engine came out of a vandalized 1971 Buick 'Limited', (455)
and hood scoop is 'cloned' off of the 'Bandit' Trans AM.

I am still digging under the bench. There is NO WAY to predict what is under
there, but I will use this project to get rid of ALL THAT I can, as long as it
WORKS!!

Some of these parts have been 'IN MY WAY for 30 years!!!

I will be posting some pics soon.

I am a MADMAN when it comes to cars! I also own a Plazma cutter, a Mig and a
metal brake.

I have used the Aspen/ Volari front under Ford, Chevy and Dodge. I fits better
under Chevy and Ford, but I have had it in my 47 for 22 years. When you use
certain Chevy or Ford frames, it almost looks 'factory', the Dodge makes you
work for it, but it can be done.
