The glass company called me yesterday and they told me the dealer could only get green because they didn't make bronze anymore. Well I called the dealer when I got home from work this morning to check. I could hear one of the parts personnel in the background (who copped an attitude) telling the one I was on the phone with that they had already looked this up and green was the only color available. Well I asked the lady I was on the phone with if she could check the new part number I received from Mike621 and when she did she said there were 2 in Denver. These forums are great for helping others!!

So they replaced the windshield today but I think they installed a green and not bronze one. It doesn't look the same to me. The dark band at the top looks blue where I thought the one on my old windshield was brown. Is there a way to tell which one it is? In the lower left corner of the windshield there is the brand marking with some numbers do they mean anything? Also on the driver's side the glass is wavy when looking through it. Should I take it back?

add to the value of cars with bronze glass. if i a windshield goes for 1xxx then the car should be worth 10 times what it is going for.

These are collector cars now, even the 97's are eleven years old now. up goes the price for sure.

Can those of you with the bronze windshield can you tell me what color the tinted band is at the top?

You should have a tan-ish color at the top of the windshield. Also the wavyness is in all of the leftover OEM windshields from what i've read so far.

That's what I thought about the band color. The wavyness is very bothersome though.

Just to add a bit of confusion, I just had my windshield replace through insurance, and they used an OEM bronze windshield. This was on my white pearly 92, so as soon as I saw it I started making phone calls, and I was told by one dealership that all they can get is bronze right now. Another dealership said they can only get blue, and the last dealership I called could not verify a color just that they could only order 65001PA300.

After working with several auto glass companies, Id first like to know what company did the work, and did they provide a warranty with the work?

It is the auto glass company's responsibility to disclose any differences with a replacement part versus the vehicle's original equipment when a customer requests an OEM part.

The bronze windshields are available in the Subaru warehouse, but it seems that the auto glass company who did your installation purchased a green tint part instead, to save on their costs. If you requested OEM and original to what is in the car, then you SHOULD get a bronze windshield, especially if you are paying for one.

Distortion in the glass is an item normally warrantied by every major glass company that stands behind their work. OEM or not, that glass is defective and should be replaced with one free of distortion.

The glass company who did the work purchased the glass from the Subaru dealership. They noticed that the glass was green but they still installed it without letting me know because they were told by the dealer that was the only windshield available.

Tell them BS and get them to order the bronze because I checked at work for you and Subaru DOES indeed have bronze and green left.

seems to sum it up, windows and windshields on these cars are a boogar to deal with replacing.
