Re: Sex on wheels

Hi Cam

Today I collected a set of '05s STis via the WRX forum. Spent a good hour cleaning them and was really pleased with the way they came up. Did yours come with centre caps and nuts? Mine did not and I am looking where is best to source them.

What brand of tyre did you decide on? I see you went the 235/45/17. Have you been happy with that selection? I was thinking 225/45/17.

I would be very interested in eveyone's views on tyre selection.

Will post some picks when I get a chance to take some shots.

Cheers

Col

Re: Sex on wheels

What colour did you get? yes mine had caps, i was supposed to get nuts but they havent shown up but im using some std liberty ones you may need to go to subaru to get the centre caps, the tyres are nearly too wide but only touch in the rear on full compression fully loaded but i'm going to cure that soon I think with some new springs and shocks. otherwise theyre great

Re: Sex on wheels

Followed up with the seller today and he said he has found the caps and will post them to me which is great.

I have been to heaps of wheel places and been watching for RX-8 wheels but concluded that the STi wheels look nicely balanced on the car and suit the style of the SVX and they are the right size and offset which saves stuffing around. The 17" sit a little nicer than the 16s in my opinion.

The wheels are gold. I am currently getting my SVX prepped for spraying burgundy as per original but I am choosing to have a black top done. I would have liked silver STi wheels but I have been looking for months without success. I will see how the gold look and may even get them powder coated silver if the gold does not work.

I do like the gold rims on yours Cam.

Desertrunner I paid $600 which I thought was a good deal for the standard of wheel that I got.

Cheers

Colin

Re: Sex on wheels

I paid the same for mine and they were off an 07 and i went for the 235/45/17 mainly because its a std size on a crummydore therefore cheaper and readily available and like colin said the offset is right

Colin are you going with the metalic black?

Re: Sex on wheels

Hi Cam

I am not sure about the black. To date we have just talked about a really nice glossy black.

Cheers
