@$$holes.... What a way to make my day
So I woke up today to go out and find this, isnt it just so awesome
Whoever did it, didnt take anything, just went through my stuff. I dont get it... I had my zune, gps, cd's... all in the car. None of it was taken. Im glad of that, but still, what was the point of breaking out the window, and opening my door... Figures this would happen when Im trying to figure my alarm crap out. No more games around that, Im just having cartoys install one for me. What a day I tell you...

Re: @$$holes.... What a way to make my day
Yeah... and it figures that safelite is having issues locating the glass for it. I may just go to a local junk yard and get one from them. They have 2 cars that I can get the window out of. And they arent bad priced. They are asking $50. subaruparts sells them for $107, but because of time and location, if they cant get me one for say a week, Im going to the yard to get it there, and Ill just have them put it in for me.

Re: @$$holes.... What a way to make my day
So no where will do the job for me becides Subaru. Everywhere else says that the window is just too much work and they dont want to deal with it. Subaru can order me the window for $150, but theres only 3 left in the country and it will take a week and a half to get it to me. Then the work itself is an 8 hour job, so they told me to expect to leave my car at the dealer for two days. Im at a loss on what to do...

8 hours!
Ack! I've never done one but that seems ridiculous.

...or less.
I've taken them out and they are relatively easy.

Just how easy are they? Could you do a brief walkthrough for me?

Re: @$$holes.... What a way to make my day
Remove the rear seat bottom.
Remove 2 clips then remove side trim panel. Rest should hopefully be straightforward.

Re: @$$holes.... What a way to make my day
Definitely do it yourself! If the dealer has already thrown the 8 hours number out there, you can bet they are going to be looking to charge the labor rate for that. Probably anywhere from $600-$1000 out the door to get a new window in there.
Meanwhile, for $50 and a couple hours of your time, it's a done deal and you can have it back together before the weekend. You've replaced your entire interior! Getting to where the window is at should be easy for you! Adjusting it may be another issue (per you front passenger window dilemma).

Re: @$$holes.... What a way to make my day
Yeah, the hardest part is removing the interior trim...
I don't remember, but you may have to get the motor 1/2 way down to access the bolts that hold the glass to the regulator?? When you get it at the yard, do you pull it or do they? That's something I like about U-Pull yards, you get to teach yourself how it goes together before you buy it. If you accidently brake it, go to the next car.

Re: @$$holes.... What a way to make my day
They probably didn't take anything because someone came by. Thieves will often leave perfectly good stuff if they get scared off (they are, by nature, cowards).
As far as a better alarm, that will do well against casual criminals. For career criminals, I would say get a $50 comprehensive deductible (or glass coverage, if your insurance does that, but comp will cover other things like theft, vandalism, hail, etc.). You can usually get comp without collision (I assume this is uncovered or you have astronomical deductibles). If you have a $50 comp deductible, you can just pay it and let your insurance company worry about the $150 glass and 8 hours of labour BS. Maybe not helpful for this loss, but it could be for future ones.

Re: @$$holes.... What a way to make my day
I figured out what the bastards took. It didnt cross my mind until I saw the key to the case... When I went to Dabob I took my camera... my $2000 camera... and its gone. Insurance is going to cover it, but I will never have my pictures back
