Significant Technical Input Registered SVX Classic SVX
The factory Service manual wiring diagram shows the blue connector (R52) as a 6-pin connector.

But the wiring diagram in the above link shows the door lock switch with only 3 wires connected. The black wire is ground and the solid orange and the orange/green stripe are connected to the corresponding color wires running between the security module and the door lock timer (which I believe is behind the front kick panel on the passenger side)

The wiring diagram on my later FSM supplements doesn't show the red or red/black stripe wires on the connector being connected.

Could the two Red wires be for lighting. Is there a back-light in the switch?

I looked quick behind that kick panel, but there are so many connectors, I dont know which one to be looking for. I dont know if it lights up either... It wouldnt bug me if it doesnt, if it does, it would be cool to get it working, but one step at a time.. first thing is getting the lock switch to work.

Where would I be able to run the red wires to then? Would it work if I spliced them into the shifter position light?

Looking at the FSM, it appears that most of the illumination lamps in the cabin seem to use both the red and the red/black stripe wires. I think this may be a function of the "bright" circuit as the end of the wiper stalk, allowing feed of a diminished voltage to the lamps.

I am pretty sure that the red/black stripe is the normal 12V. You could always plug the switch into your harness, attach the black lead to a ground under the hood and touch either red wire to the positive battery post to see which one lights it up.

tapping into the transmission selector light for power would work and allow the switch to be illuminated only at night and the ability to be dimmed with the rest of the lights.

if you need to figure out which wires are which on the switch harness, set your DMM to it's continuity setting, or if it's not got one go to resistance. With the switch sitting neutral nothing should be contacting. Try one lead on the black wire then push down one way on the switch and use the other lead to check the wires until you find one that's got continuity (or a resistance of ~0.00 ohms). You now know that wire is whichever button you'd been pressing.

lather, rinse repeat.

Alright what is the deal. Ive got my golvebox out, and have the security module out. I see an orange wire going into it, but there is no orange and green wire... And the security module has 2 plugs in it, not one like that first picture shows...

Disregard that last post. I got the switch all hooked up and working! What a joy to be able to control the locks from there, lol. Got it hooked up to the shift light connection as well, so the light behind it works.

While I was doing stuff, all of the bulbs behind my dash buttons were out, so I also replaced those. Looks a lot better now that Ill be able to see the buttons at night, lol.

Thanks everyone for the help!

Here are a couple pics of the wires that I spliced into. I didnt go through the security module, I went through this plug that wasnt plugged into anything.... Dont know if it is supposed to be like that or what... but it worked. This is the plug that is shown in the first image that was posted.




I spliced into the ground wire, and the unlock/lock wires. Thank you JIMSVX for posting the diagram, it made this possible!
