I wonder how to get it a photochromic window tint, so it would look like those sunglasses lenses that reflect all the different colors?

Significant Technical Input

You could use spring spacers or supplemental (heavy on the mental) air shocks to raise the fender lip high enough to not rub.

Leaf him alone!

Gee....all these creative ideas. Makes the yellow leaves I put under his wipers at Canaan Valley seem pretty tame by comparison.

I bet John could make a cardboard scale sized silhoutette of Dan's car to stand beside Randy's pearlie. He'd come out of the bah....and need that CPR for sure! Don

I got it. While we distract Randy, we can paint the car S2000 yellow with lime green racing stripes, multi-color felt patches for that "Earthly" look, saw the springs so it sits 3/4" off the ground and put a set of 285/35-R20's on it with some Wal-Mart snap on rims.

Smile Well...

I'm enjoying all this chat about pissing off Randy but I'm gonna give you some more info now. Using the 8" width, the wheels stick out .64" and the inside is actually .14" farther away from everything. Will .64" cause rubbing. I did some steering tests with a small block of .75" wood taped to the tire, and there didn't look like any way it'd rub in the front, but it might have been out enough to rub under heavy loading in the back. Has anybody ever run 7.5" width 38mm offset wheels, because this would cause the same amount of movement outward (and lots more movement on the inside, but the inside is no longer an issue). I don't especially want to ship the wheels back, wait for him to get them, and then wait for him to ship the other ones out to me. I fully understand that it does me no good to put on an 8" width if it's gonna rub and I'm gonna have to change rims anyway, but I wanna know for sure. Lots of people have said that 8" width would cause rubbing, but does anybody have any explanation or EXPERIENCE with this. Heck, a year and a half ago you couldn't even buy rims for the SVX because of the offset. So, I just want some firm basis for assuming the 8" width won't work. Thanks for any info.

Re: Well...

While I don't want to distract those that are imaging creative ideas for AreDub by bringing it back on topic...

I have 205/55/16 snows on 7" steelies with 38mm offset (from a Toyota Supra), and they rub just barely. Now of course, the snow tires do bulge more than a low profile tire, but I think you'd be AWFULLY close, and I wouldn't chance it.

Besides, if you try to mount them, is the guy you bought it from going to take a return?

Two questions Mat

What have you decided to do about your wheels? More importantly, do the adapters fit?

I noticed that danrowski has the same wheels (18", but in black) on his yellow SVX. Have you asked him what size he's running?

The adapters fit great. Thanks a lot for those Todd.

I haven't made a firm wheel decision yet because I haven't heard much from the guy I bought them from. All he said was "What exact rim did you order and what car is it going on?" That's all he said despite all the questions I asked. So, I gotta wait to see what happens with him. I also wanna know where the rubbing occurs...front, back (outside, I know), during turning, during bumps? I'll have to get with danrowski. I didn't know he had those.

But...

I have a 45mm offset. The 17x7.5 with a 38mm offset will move the wheel toward the outside of the well by .7" while the 8" width with a 45mm offset moves the wheel out by .64". So, if the 7.5 with a 38mm offset works, then the 8" WILL work! That makes me happy considering the help this guy is giving me. Thanks 1994SubaruSVX...you have given me hope
