I can look up the gas prices at various stations around me online and compare before I leave home.... then plan my shopping route accordingly

The local ARAL station in our village is currently pretty cheap with:
(initial prices in Euros, then US)

1.269/litre Regular (1.528 US$/litre or $5.7840912 US/USgallon)
1.289/litre Super (1.5521 US$/litre or $5.87531934/USgallon)
1.389/litre Ultimate (1.6725US$/litre or $6.3310815/gal)
1.119/litre Diesel
1.199/litre Ultimate Diesel

I like this web site for converting between Metric and Imperial. It also has both Imperial and US gallons.
http://convert.french-property.co.uk/index.htm

1 US gallon = 3.78540 litres
1 Imperial gallon = 4.54610 litres

Geez...I'm only about 80 miles away from you... could be there in under 2 hours with my SVX

My husband is German, and works in the textile industry. There's an international textile machine manufacturer here near Schwäbisch Hall. He worked for them years ago, and when they got bought out recently, they went after Hubby to come back and re-join. Was a decent offer so we accepted, and so here we are. We moved here not quite a year ago. Before that we were a bit farther south near Reutlingen/Tübingen. Before that we were even a bit more further south in Switzerland. Yeah... we move around a bit.

I didn't know any German (Language! not people! ) until we moved to Switzerland. I've gotten fairly decent with conversational German, but my writing still leaves a great deal to be desired. So I stick with what I know best, and that is tutoring kids in English, and helping out friends and neighbours with their computers. No "real" job, but I keep busy. When the weather gets better, I'll go back to exploring the countryside. Meanwhile I'm online a lot since I got nothing better to do except housework and shopping

We should get together. Hubby travels a lot and he'll be away over the next few months quite a bit so timing might be slightly difficult. Gosh... haven't been in Heidelberg in a few years now... it actually is on my list for this summer. I want to go to that cafe up at the castle overlooking the city and have an eis-cafe.

I just read that! My great uncle named the rock on my great grandfathers property "castle rock" because it reminded him of the rocks in germany with castles built on them, and my neighbor named their place "Heidlberg" so it is kinda like living in little germany

I will not be back there for several months. I am in the Sandbox.

My wife works there in Germany. She speaks pretty good German.

I would love to meet you and your husband when we return.

Saw your pics at Pro Street
(yeah, I spend way too much time online - but it's raining today, that's my excuse )
