Question Transmission Oil cooler help please?

I want to install an external Transmission Cooler on the 1995 L I just acquired. Where can I purchase one and is that something you would traditionally ask a dealer to install for you?

Many are buying their B&M coolers from www.summitracing.com.

A dealer, generally, will not put an aftermarket cooler in -- just depends on what type of relationship you have with your dealer. For sure, though, a reputable transmission shop will be happy to install it or, if you know of a good independent shop. It is relatively easy to install (though I didn't do mine myself -- I would've, if the shop hadn't done it the first time they rebuilt my tranny).

There are quite a few options to select from on SummitRacing.com

Is there a particular model # that I should be looking for? What about accessory parts like mounting brackets?

I got an answer from SummitRacing that they are universal and it only depends on the available space you have to mount it.

So...for my next question:

What size should I get???

I think most are going for the unit that is for 18,000 lb GVW or thereabouts. That should be more than sufficient. Some are going for larger units, but, unless you live in a desert climate, I think you'll be more than fine with the 18,000 lb unit.

I, personally, have the 14,500 lb GVW Tru Cool (I'd recommend this, or even lesser-- maybe 11,000 lb -- GVW if you live in a cold climate -- remember, the tranny don't shift to 4th until the fluid has reached at least 50 degrees F).
