Woo Hoo! Now subaru will have 2 flops sitting on their lots. Hopefully they'll get back to making solid dependable awd cars and get away from this speed ricer concept they've adopted lately. Kill the stinking Impreza that consumer reports said way back when the platform was introducted in 93 wasn't all that impresive even though it was leaps ahead of the loyale.

While the official figures haven't been released, this article on subdriven mentions that the '06 STI will have 311ft-lbs of torque - there's no mention of an increase in hp.

http://www.subdriven.com/news/publis...icle_378.shtml

Personally, I won't be surprised if the 'official' hp rating remains at 300...even though the actual rating will probably be in the 320-325 range. Subaru seems to be starting a trend of under-rating their engine output of late (e.g. '04-'05 Forester XT).

The '06 Impreza actually has two cup-holders - but they're in an akward location beside the parking brake:

-Chike

P.S. The more and more I look at the '06 Imprezas, the more I like Subaru's new corporate face.

I'll definitely test drive an '06 WRX this Fall. My wife likes them and it'll fall within the 26-27K price range she's given me. I'll also test drive an '05 Forester XT (still several new ones on dealer lots - hate the '06 redesign), an '05 Legacy 2.5GT and maybe even a pre-owned '04/'05 STI.

However, I believe in supporting Subaru, so I'm 99% sure my next car will be purchased brand new.

new from Landshark Studios (a division of Jackass Industries)......new body kits for yu0r ugly '06 Impreza!

as i was messing around with these, i realized the headlights are almost as awkward as the grille. the foglights and lower rad opening don't seem to flow with anything, either. its a really sad design. Subaru is really dropping the ball.

I don't mind the front end as much as I thought I was going to. And i have to say, I think it definitely gives the company a "common face" while a lot may not agree with it, at least you'll be able to instantly recognize a subaru on the road. Think about how you can always tell BMW's, Pontiacs, Mercedes, and Porsches immediately just by the nose. I think it might help subaru more than we realize.

Plus, i GUARANTEE the 2.5t to be going faster than the 4g63 by the end of 06 Displacement helps.... especially when putting down streetable power.

You know I just noticed the radio antenna, or lack of one. I would Absolutely love to get my radio antenna shaved off. I hate how it looks and how it wobbles going down the freeway. But the reception absolutely sucks when its not extended.

The more I look at the front end, the more it looks like a legacy rather than an impreza.

I just looked up what the TR was, cause i hadn't heard about it. Apparently its "Tuner Ready" and sells cheaper. Sounds like every teenager and their little brother will be buying those up.

All I can say is I can't wait for the 2008 Revision, hopefully they wont let quite so many subaru enthusiasts down next time.

Chike, put her in a Baja Turbo if you must go with a new subie. Personally, I'd find a nice 95ish Impreza though. I wouldn't support a company that can't seem to make a quality vehicle now.

Ben,

While the Baja turbo is extremely fast, b/c it's built on the legacy platform (unlike the Forester XT that's built on the impreza) it weighs a stout 3,400-3,500lbs. I really want a light-weight car that I can use both at the dragstrip and autox events.

The Legacy 2.5GT and WRX are therefore my front runners.
