Transmission Pan Gasket

I'm planning on dropping my transmission pan this weekend to change the screen/filter and to do as complete a fluid drain as possible.

Just checking to see whether others change the pan gasket as part of this procedure.

I dropped the pan on my '94 Legacy Touring (turbo) Wagon (same 4EAT except for final drive) recently to change out the filter. I was going to change the gasket, but facing the prospects of having to scrape off the old one to re-apply a new one, I chose to re-use the existing gasket. It wasn't leaking then and doesn't appear to be leaking now either.

Filter/screen kits come with a gasket. It doesn't take too much extra effort, I would reccommend doing it.

I have done mine. Gasket remover spray makes it easy. Some RTV on the new gasket helps and make sure the pan gasket face is flat with straight edge.

There is a pipe to remove before the filter comes out. It may require a pry.

Silicone on the o-ring.
