Part no. for vacuum hose?

If you look between the alternator and the compressor, you can see it in the rear. It's a small hose (5/32")with a check valve and it goes from the manafold to the EGR, shaped like an "L". I can't find it on Subaruparts list.

Can't help with the number, but that hose goes to the IRIS vacuum tank, not the EGR .

Cut a strait length of line and route it without kinking it.

Re: Part no. for vacuum hose?

I'm sorry, it's between the alternator and the PS reservoir. I did use a straight piece, but the original has some type of plastic check valve connection. On this part it says; to the EGR.

Re: Part no. for vacuum hose?

You guys are the best! Thanks! Does this check valve have something inside, like a spring? I found mine apart and nothing inside. If I blow through it in either side, the air passes right through. Would a straight piece without it still work?

It is a one way check valve.
So, it has a check ball, and a spring inside, originally.
A straight piece would allow vacuum to bleed off and cause incorrect function.

Re: Part no. for vacuum hose?

What exactly would not work properly? What are the symptoms? So far I don't sense anything or have codes coming up.
Update: I'm getting a slight knocking, shaking feeling while excellerating hard uphill at around 40-45 mph. Never did this before, could it be the iris check valve?

If the check valve is not there or not working properly, the Inertia system will not work, the butterfly valve in the manifold won't close, and you will not have all the good torque from 2200 to 4000.

Don't know about the knocking/shaking, what have you changed?

Harvey.

Re: Part no. for vacuum hose?

Harvey,
The symptom is like a hesitation, choking feel with some stuttering. This happens only going up hill at around 40-50 mph with the pedal pushed hard. For example, I'm driving up hill at around 50. Suddenly the car in front of me slows down and we both slow down to 40 mph. Now he speeds up and I follow pushing the pedal down to pick up momentum, this is when I feel this symptom. To stop it, I either let go of the pedal and start again but slowly picking up speed or I switch to 3rd.
I changed the spark plugs, one bad coil, added the power mode and the quick change kit from you. It ran better, so it seemed until I found the iris vacuum check valve off the hose.

40/50 in 4th is right in the range that the Inertia should be working, with out that check valve in there, it will be trying to accelerate on the resonate system that won't do any thing at that speed.

Harvey.

Re: Part no. for vacuum hose?

Harvey,
After replacing all my vacuum hoses (many were broken) and the check valve, I no longer have the hesitation issues. I'm not sure which one caused my symptoms, but it's gone and the car drives like a beast! Thanks to everyone who helped!
PS thanks for the shift kit, it works great!
