Security module

What is the black wire hanging out of the module? Is it supposed to be connected to anything?

Re: Security module

makes sense, thanks.
My security light is on steady, I bought a replacement from ebay I plug that one in and it too is on steady. Any one have any luck getting it to work or taking one apart to find out what went wrong?
I mainly want the factory keyless entry.

As you can see they have the same Part Number, though different date codes
The listing said 92 svx security module, working. Hopefully I can get my money back without problems.

Will a box out of a 94 work? I got one in a wrecking yard fairly close.

And yes I know how to program it, but without the flashing light it wont go into programing mode.

I'm pretty sure you can use a receiver from any year SVX. They just simply relocated them mid-year 94 because of the switch from single to dual airbags. In fact I just sold someone one from a 92 and he used it in his 96 with no troubles...

More than likely its a bad solenoid. I think you can just sauder(uhm spelling?) them back together or something. I got lucky when mine started acting up. I replaced it with the one from my parts car and no more issues! Before not only would the security light flash, but my alarm went off all the time while I would be driving the car. My doors constantly locked and unlocked and when it was parked the interior lights would randomly come on and off. I was having to recharge my battery pretty regular for a while, but its all gravy now!

Re: Security module

The security system internal relay has failed, the usual problem. (light stays on) Replacing relay is possible, part can be found an electronics store, maybe radio shack, not sure. Must be soldered out and in. Takes some electronics knowledge and skills to accomplish this.
If you find a replacement security module it is difficult to determine if its a good one unless it is functioning prior to removal from the donor car.
Best thing to do is to have a completely new security system installed. I installed an aftermarket systems in both our SVX and connected to existing wiring and they both work fine.
good luck then!

does anyone have more details on this, I do have some electronics know how I might be able to de-solder and then re-solder the circuit board. If replacement gets to be more of a hassle. I tried finding new module, and besides the higher price I dont find any in stock.
