Thumbs up Superior, James

Intercontinental Ballistic Banana

I like it a lot. Were there two colours of Yellow? I have seen photos of cars that have a citrus tinge, which Mister Springsteen might liken to a "piss-yellow sunset", and then there is this warm butter gold colour you would be tempted to put on your popcorn. Are there two shades, or is it just the foibles of the print industry?

looks like the factory paint screw up just like the clarets.

Question

Whadddya mean by that, Lwin? Clarets are perfect.

Or at least they would be if I could manage to get mine to smell like a nice little vintage burgundy, instead of the normal scorched ATF smell it always has.

Now red cars have a matching problem. They are usually hardly off the factory lot, before they have all decided to age at different rates, and for different parts of the bodywork like the Mazda RX7.

Hands off our clarets!!

Joe

I had a 94 Barcelona Red. I have seen 2 other barcelona reds. Well more... at Reading III. Those came with the right colour. There are more than one share of red though. I know the 97 clarets are different from 94s and 92s but even on 92 clarets, I have seen darker clarets and lighter clarets. So...

Lwin

ps. I am going to be a proud owner of a 94 claret as of Monday evening.

Correct me if I'm wrong......Claret was available on the '92s but as of '94 the color was changed to Bordeaux Pearl. While they are close they are two different colors As for the '97 Bordeaux Pearls being different from the '94 Bordeaux Pearls..........I think when you were baking your tail lights you must have inhaled too many fumes from the adhesive that holds them together

Re: Color differences

I know the difference between bordeaux pearl and clarets. But I have seen 2 clarets with different shades. So I have a bad feeling that something was wrong.

On the way back, if people need a hand with the tail/head lights, let me know.

Lwin,

Just my random thoughts: I have noticed that the lighting has a huge affect on what color my Bordeaux Pearl looks like. Sometimes it looks like it has more of a purple base and sometimes it looks like it has more of a red base. When I got my speeding ticket in New York(coming home from the Burlington Vermont meet/ 12:01 AM/ semi dark:streetlight near by) the cop wrote my car up as being BLACK.

Congrats Lwin

on your new SVX.

Never2phat beat me to it on the colour difference, but you are aware of it. So will your '94 be a Bordeaux or a Claret?

With more cars in the States to see, you may have seen differences I would not know of. At the UK meet, my car and Belhas were both Japanese editions, and the colour seemed identical. Chris came the Sunday when I was away, his car was British spec, but don't know of any difference in tone.

I will say one thing about Clarets in particular, and very dark metallics and pearls in general. My car looks a lot darker on a dull or overcast or cloudy day. If the sun is out [rare here this summer] the car looks better, the colour shines through, and the car looks lighter.

Granted, if you have seen a number together on a sunny day, and any were darker or lighter[assuming all '92s, no Bordeauxs] then paint differences can only be the answer. Either the paint was wrongly mixed at factory if all are original, or a subsequent respray got it wrong.

Joe
Try and get a photo of a lot of Clarets together at the Anniversary Meet to see if any differences are noticable!

Jams,

Nice review. It's just what I think. The SVX is one of the best GT cars around . So hush, let's not tell anyone.

Thanks James

211 Ozzie dollars is not a lot for all that. Nice to have the part numbers.

I will endeavour to "crack the whip" and see if any of the UK boys and girls would like to go for a group buy from your supplier.

Will be back to you on this. Thanks again

Joe
PS Did you see my post on yellow colours? I notice you have a folder on lime green cars. Are these a different shade, and do you know what it is called?

Joe

Hi Joe

I agree...the yellow one that I saw in the flesh was more of a lemon than a yellow...very similar to the colour that was released on the limited Edition WRX Evo Spec here in Oz.

However, magazine articles and brochures have a deep yellow and the shot of the yellow one on the Yahoo clubs is also more 'yellowey'.

The lime green was a respray - I got one photo of a German one in that colour and also from Elf's page about 3 years ago of a US one.

And the manuals are a bargain! I have 2 others here who want 'in' on the next shipment so I will leave the Europeans to you to rustle up!

Regards

James

James, that article only makes me want to know more. What is this 'Caspita' model that it refers to? And a V4 2-stroke???
