The autocar SVX nears the end....

Ok Chaps, As you may remember I have the SVX from the autocar review (Better than a Jaguar XJS...) which I intended fitting a manual gearbox to. Well, in the interim a film company has requested 'a futuristic sportscar' which will be burned out on a set. I am trying to get them to use the black parts car I have, but it is missing a front wing (Joe bought it actually!!) and am pretty certain that they will want a complete car. Therefore, Autocar or no autocar she is likely to bite the dust in the near future.
Ther good news is that it will yeild some splendid parts! (a set of the coverted SVX floormats for one thing!) So if anyone is desperate for anything specific please let me know, and if indeed it is used fir the filming I'll get back to you.

Alternatively, if anyone really feels strongly about the loss of the autocar test SVX and has any alternative ideas please get in touch!

I hope the compensation is well worth it.

(chuckle) Yes, but Special effects are a might more expensive than an early SVX with a fritzed gearbox and needing a waterpump!

....but its only a tranny and a waterpump...thats like...
...Ive done more complicated mechanical stuff on a dirt driveway with nothing more than a cheap socet set and some boards to use as jackstands

Hell, if they want to bluw up an svx, at least they ought to use one that isn't savable

well, I have been told today thet the SVX will not be needed until the end of Jan, and it is quite possible that they will be able to use the black parts car I have. Hopefully I'll get the manuial 'box in by then, and that will settle the matter!

why let this happen?

it seems absurd.

I just swapped in a 6-gear and after having played with that a bit, no amount of meagre compensation would have, in retrospect, justified my giving up on the project or getting rid of this car by any means.

Well, yes it is simple stuff, as long as you have the time. Also, the Subaru dealers in the states are far more realistic with thier prices than thier UK counterparts. Whilst I hear a lot of griping I dont hear any offers of alternative cars? oh, and finally, please dont refer to the gearbox as a 'tranny'. A Tranny is a totally different thing over here, and I will not be fitting one to this or any other car!! I will not be trashing the car if I can possibly help it, however if it ends up just sitting outside whils I work through the line of work that is more urgent then that is somewhat of a shame to?
