Bought spare car

Hi guys, just want to let you know I have bought spare car which closed my decison weather to sell my SVX or not:-). Spare car is, as I remember, '93 and quite surprised me. Mine was made in 94 but as a 95 model. There are some differencies which surprised me:
- different steering wheel - there is embossed SVX logo
- tail brake light
- missing rear wing
- different engine cover

Car was cheap as tranny was out for rebuild and meantime fallen tree hit the car. So there are some chassis demages, broken rear glass and driver glass but rest including interier looks OK.

Do you have any way to find out how many SVXi were imported into the Czech Republic? You might be able to collect all of them!

Congratulations on your new purchase.

Nice buy Petr. Congratulations. If glass is broken you will need to store it under cover, or the interior will rot.

I hope you got the gearbox as well. It is the one part most likely to give trouble, and I always like to keep a spare transmission around.

You may find as I did that there is not an air bag inside the wheel, as its too early, so its worth while having a look. There should be two small access panels on either side of the wheel when in the straight ahead position. If that is the case then there is an airbag fitted. It should also have "SRS airbag" on the wheel also.

Cheers

Graham

These differences are interesting all right Graham, and reminds me of something. I was recently looking at the pics on the German SVX site.

They have a photo call from the meetings held yearly, and in different places. What I found most interesting was in '98 and '99, they had quite well attended meetings, 12 cars or more being in group photos. When looked at from behind, the vast majority had no rear wing. In a group of 14, there might be 12 without the rear spoiler, and two with it.

This is very similar to the UK SVX market. At our meetings, only a few had rear spoilers, and in most cases [don't know about Mal's yellow peril ] the ones with spoilers were imports.

In the USA, the opposite applies. Very few cars are seen without the USA style spoiler.

I will take some pictures to see and talk. No rear spoiler but brake light in the midle of trunk. Also it seems there was brake light on the rear window. As it is broken now I can find only rest of it but for sure is was done in factory and not after production. It uses same cables as whiper motor...
BTW there is some button missing on the left side from steering wheel. There are two buttons, one for lights and one is blind. I can not realize for what is the second one in my original car but definitelly there is one for someting, not blind. I have tought that these cars were equipped almost the same during production, but there are some differences...

So I have updated my locker with pictureshttp://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/user.php?Nobody|36471. It has no airbags. As tree fallen on it, body has some demages. It is unbeliaveable how good is anti rust protection. Car was standing two years outside and no rust on demage areas.
