4.11 or 4.44???

Hi I'm in the market for a new tranny and am interested in swapping for a 4.11 or a 4.44

2 Questions:

1) Which one is better?

2) Can I pull one from any 2.5 Impreza/Legacy or are there certain specifications?

Also, if anyone in my area has one for a good price... please contact me. I live in CT. Thanks!!!

-Mike

I have three 4.44s in my driveway, so I could be biased.
ChikeTKD is as far as I know the only member who has had both, and I know he prefers the 4.44.
Tom.

4.11's are prone to frying. Go 4.44

95-96-97-& Early 98 Legacy Outback/Legacy GT/Legacy LSI/Forester/Impreza 2.5 RS with 4EAT automatic transmission, and 2.5 engine.
Get the transmission that DOES NOT HAVE the spin on transmission filter located on the drivers side, behind the bellhousing, above the left front corner of the transmission oil pan.
Look through my locker at ALL things transmission and rear end related.

I as of now have no transmisssions to sell. ( As far as I know )
But a rebuilt trans for $600-750 is the norm.
From a junkyard a used trans and rear end can be as low as $400- $900.
It depends on your local economic conditions.
Tom.
