First the 928, now a SL 600!!!!!!
First I drove the 928 twice, now on monday I'm taking out a triple black SL 600 V-12!!!!!!!!!! This will take care of my convertible fix for awhile! This thing HAS to be quicker and faster then the 928. I can't wait. When it comes time to buy, I'm still getting a 928.

The SL 600 is twice the price of the 928 I drove. I'm sure I'll probably enjoy the SL, maybe even more then the 928, but I've always wanted a Porsche. Still will be alot of fun. I hope I get a nice sunny day to enjoy flying with the top down!

I was a little off in the numbers. The auto 87 or 88 928 I drove is currently at $16,500. The 93 SL 600 is at $26,995. I can't wait to feel the V-12 open up on the highway. They also have a sweet looking BMW 760iL V-12 sedan. Talk about a semi-sleeper.

Chike, that's my quandry. I found a 88 928 auto on e-bay with 35k original miles on her. Guards red over tan, just like my SVX was. But people I work with tell me to get a 5 speed. I loved the auto one I drove a few weeks back. The SL is an auto as is the 760.

I drove the SL 600 yesterday. It was a blast. Top down motoring has it's advantages! The mid range acceleration was unbelieveable. 100 felt like we were doing 45 on the highway. It even had a power operated wind deflector between the seats. It was a life altering experience. I suggest you find a dealer who is willing to let you drive one if you can, as a German V-12 at full bore is something all car lovers should experience. The 530i BMW will be next on my drive list. No intrest in buying one, but he has 2 nice ones on the lot. If the SL and 928 were the same price, it'd be tough. But I still want my 928. Lifelong dreams die hard.

now you are contradicting yourself, you said earlier that it was a matter of price not other thing... isn't it!

I took your advice, I drove them both. Now it's tough. Same price would be tougher, but I think I would still take the 928. I love the way it looks. The convertible aspect is the biggest check mark in the SL column. Plus down the road I hope to inherit my wife's grandfather's 280 SL. Never imported to the US in 84, this one is a German Domestic Market model he had imported to him. The guages are in German. Only the 380 and 450 were brought in in 84.
