SVXs are accident magnets

Today I got into another accident
Just great, 6.5 months of licensed driving (im 16) and ive been in 3 accidents.

My front end looks like someone started stripping the paint for a paintjob, and now the side has stripped parts to go along with the key marks already there

I'm lucky that all are paint damage though, so nobody's brought it up with the insurance company so my rates skyrocket, but I must say its quite a lot of accidents

btw, I am careful when driving, I do the whole look thing to shift and turn and signal for just about everything (even the specific turn lanes)

might have pics up when it stops raining

Sorry to hear that. Experience helps as well as defensive driving. I don't think that the SVX is any more prone to accidents than other cars though. I do think that they have more power and ask to be driven, and unless you can use some will power, you can get in trouble very quickly.

it always seems to happen when i didn't open it up and go...all the ones that happened were making turns or speed limit (1 not my fault cause it was a hit and run, one was technically my fault cause i took a right against a red stoplight and when i looked the intersection was clear, the last one was a side hit against a jag that i couldn't see in the rain when i was shifting [35mph])

Anticipating the worst of other drivers is always a good defense.

I learned the defensive approach on my crotch rocket..also with atx's ones attention can wander at times ...not having to row thru a manual..always keep your eyes on the road..and expect the unexpected from other drivers..ive had other drivers begin to merge into my side, and if I had failed to react , would've continued right into me, never assume they can see you
trust no one moulder

Best advice i can give you is go with the traffic flow and avoid ford SUV's at ALL TIMES.

...do you have a 5 speed SVX?? I was wondering as you said one of the accidents happend while you were shifting.

no, i was shifting into the other lane

i can't drive a manual and i hate SUVs...the headlights are usually positioned so they blind me in all mirrors...

Gravija,
Hate to say it, but it's 16yr olds that are accident magnets, not the SVX. Not saying your a bad driver per say, however you need to work on your situational awareness (ie: not seeing the jag)
Just work on that and you'll be fine, just takes time for some people.

I haven't had a single accident when I drive my SVX around,...no matter where...no matter how long, how bad on the road conditions since that date I owned it. (when I registered at this forum)
