rear lens disassembly

Ok, I did some searching, but was unable to find exactly what I was looking for...

I have the rear center light out of the car, and its sitting on my bathroom sink, I wish to dissassemble it, to remove the red bars across the back up lights, an the SUBARU insignia. What exactly do I need to do?

is there epoxy? heating involved?

This should be interesting. I have thought about doing the samething. However I remember reading that others have tried and said the name can't be removed.

Disassembly would be similar to the headlight disassembly, so try searching for that, there was a how-to on headlight disassembly in order to clean the lenses a while back.

Basically heat and pry is all you need to know. Name can be removed using a fine sandpaper.

hmmm

the rear is under very different conditions then the front, as well as the fact that the bulbs dont have the same heat. I would think it would be quite different then the front.

I did this to headlights on my old car.

put them in the oven for about 10 minutes on 250*F. Started prying them apart, then put them back in the oven for 5 more minutes and pryed them completely off.

I guess the procedure would be the same .....its actually easy ....low heat and keep an eye on em.

Rob did it about 2 months ago and posted pics, he said he used a hairdryer and a flat head screw driver to pry it apart.
