Talking Big Black Rubber Wiper Bumpers

FINALLY! I feel complete. I had been envious of the OE wipers ever since I found that OE wiper blades had bumpers on them (ever wonder why your wipers don't fit against those little bumpers on your cowling? I did.) Now I have them. I can die a happy man.

I replaced mine with non-oem's. (I was afraid to ask the price of the originals.

I'm not afraid to ask you. Give it up.

HA! I think we may becoming too close-knit a family 'round here.

The blades are 14.04 each plus shipping. They come with a new refill.

But, what really got me was that little piece of foam rubber . . . you know . . . the one in front of the radiator . . . that looks like a piece of --- should I say it --- um -- weather stripping? That little puppy will run you 9.30 plus shipping. It cost almost as much as my OE radiator cap (no, mine ain't busted -- I just had to get an A/M one shortly after I bought the car, and every time I open the hood, it "glares" at me. I won't have to worry about that any more ) -- the radiator cap is 9.72 -- plus shipping.

(ALL PRICES ARE IN US DOLLARS -- VOID WHERE PROHIBITED -- DO NOT FOLD STAPLE OR MUTILATE -- DO NOT STORE AT TEMPURATURES BELOW 32 DEGREES FARENHEIT -- OPERATORS ARE STANDING BY)

PS: I always wondered about that line "void where prohibited." I always wondered if Billy Carter had read that on something right before he got hauled away for peeing in the Whitehouse Rose Garden.

How many lines like that do you have, anyway? Do they give those out a DeeJay school?

And how do you get this to say, "Originally posted by xxx"? It never gives me that.

I wish I were smarter.

Steve, that's pitiful. You have to click on the "quote" button, instead of the "reply" button. Then, just delete all the text you don't want in the "quote" or, leave it "as is". It will then read "Originally posted by . . ." at the top (that is, unless you've deleted the code that makes it say that).

They don't really give those lines out at DeeJay school They are "disclaimers" -- those things that HAVE to be said as a CYA measure for the manufacturers. On TV, you don't usually have to hear them, they just type them on the screen in type so small you can't read them anyway (we call it "mouse" type -- ever try to read the disclaimers at the end of a car ad?).

Actually I always read those and I was pleased to find out that, ONCE, sombody had a sense of humor. It was an Audi commercial about 3 years ago and I never saw it again. They were "talking" (as in the voices) about the engineers or something desiging the car or something and the "mouse type" read, "Pretty cool job huh?" It made me jump out of my seat. Quality entertainment.

Thumbs up

We've had a few days of rain 'round here and I finally got to use my new wiper blades. Ever since I bought the car, I've had a couple of problems with the wipers. 1) They really didn't seem to do the job well, even after I replaced the refills. 2) A bad case of "wiper lift" at 60-65 mph. I can now attribute both problems to the A/M wiper blades. No "smear" and no "lift." I thought I'd have to get new arms to get rid of the "lift" problem, but, the OE blades did the trick. Must be those little bumpers

Randy, I am not sure if you have tried this before but I love this stuff:

RAIN-X

That stuff really works in my case. The faster I go, the better it works. At around 40mph, even with the haviest rain, I never have the need to turn on the wipers.

And if anyone drove with me, I am really picky about what's on my wind shield and head lights. I have that need to see. With rain-x and bigger wipers (both front and back) did the trick for me.

You might want to give it a shot.

My Galant VR4 had a little wing on the driver side wiper arm. No lift at 90+

Yes, Lwin, I'm a big proponent of Rain-X. I started using it to nullify the effects that the wipers were having. I will continue to use it now that the effects are gone.

My son has a 96 Camaro RS, they have the "Aerowipers" and I;d love to be able to fit the wiper spoilers from those on my SVX. They are not only functional, but, in my opinion, look very sporty.

My dad has them on his Pajero (montero). I have seen coloured version of those here at pepboys.

THen again, when I was in Singapore, I have seen the carbon fiber versions too.
They are out there.
