1996 "L" model = AWD or not??

I'm interested in a '96 L model, and am told it's AWD. Is it?

Other than upholstery and electric seat, what differences are there between L and LSi??

1996 L is an AWD model.
The only years they made the FWD is 94 and 95.

1996 SVX: LSi adds over the L model:
leather interior: seats, steering wheel, shift and handbrake lever, door trim,
Power driver's seat
power 2 way moonroof
floor mats
anti-theft system
storage tray under passenger seat
CD player in addition to the standard cassette
6 speakers (instead of 4 in the L)
Split fold-down rear seats (one piece fold down on L model)

Well, about half of that info is correct.

I own a 1996 SVX L. It is in fact AWD.

However, my car has a CD Player, 6 speakers, and floormats, for which I didn't have to pay extra.

Either the brochures are wrong or you have an extraordinary car like mine. Brochures and documents have been wrong many a times before. Also it is a possibility that you have an unusual car.

According to 94 notes, L has an automatic seat belt, no passenger side airbag, and 4 speakers and cass. deck. On my L, I have a regular seat belt, 6 speakers, dual airbags. So.. crap happens once in a while.

But they only made FWD SVXes in 94 and 95 and they are L.

All other years are AWD.

Halfway through the '94 model year, the SVX gained dual airbags. This meant the end of the motorized seatbelts (thankfully!). So if you have a '94, you may have dual airbags and 3-point belts or a driver's side airbag and motorized belts. It depends on when the car was made in '94.

Hope this clears it up.

I have a '95 L and I also have 6 speakers while the specs say 4. I think there is misprint in the specs on this one.

The '95 L can be FWD or AWD. The base '95 L was FWD, but there was an "Active Safety Group" option that added AWD and anti-lock brakes. So all '94 L models are FWD. The 95 L can be FWD or AWD. The 96 and 97 L models are always AWD.
