Removal of Plastic Stone Guards.

Does anyone know how to remove the clear plastic stone guards that are stuck to the car in front of the rear wheels? I am getting the car painted in a few weeks, and I want to take those off before I drop it off. (just to make sure they are not painted over)

I already ordered new ones.

Mike

You are going to need to use a heat gun to soften them up a little, even then the do not come off very easy.

Question

Hmmmm...speaking of them things, they were removed from my car by the body shop that did the repainting in June. The price to replace 'em gagged me. Is there anything else out there in the aftermarket world that I can buy & "stick on"?

Thanks, Ron.

3M makes a clear film that does the same thing. I dont know where to get it though. I would recommend putting them on. My car has one on the drivers side but not the passenger side, and the paint on the passenger side is in really rough shape in that area from stone chips.

I had my panels repainted and they didn't replace the guards. I pointed that out to the bodyshop and they replaced them out of their pocket.
