How to Clean IRIS valve?
We picked up a cheap used manifold for possible use when installing the phenolic spacers (web removal, clean up and clear coating etc.). We removed the IRIS valve and found it very groady. We tried wiping it down with isopropyl alcohol but some of the mung is baked on. Would spray carb or brake cleaner be ok and not damage the diaphragm?
As expected the IRIS oring was pretty crispy.

Re: How to Clean IRIS valve?
Sorry, I don't have an answer to your question! Would you happen to have pictures of the process?

Re: How to Clean IRIS valve?
What process? We have not done much yet except pulled the IRIS and covered the manifold open ports.

i would use carb cleaner. generally don't want to use brake cleaner on engine parts.
