Recalls
So my "check engine" light has come on. And because my local Subaru dealer in Corpus Christi, TX is useless, I take my Bordeaux Pearl '95 SVX to an Import garage.
They read the code and come up with a code 22 right hand knock sensor. They also consult the internet (ALLDATA)-- and turn up a Technical Service Bulletin which says that some '92-'95 SVXs (and some Legacys and Imprezas) "may experience improper operation" due to a "breakage of an internal lead wire." In which case the faulty sensor will be replaced under the terms of Subaru Emission Control Systems warranty. The import garage suggested I take the car to Subaru and see if my '95 falls under the recall for repair. I do that, and true to form, my Subaru service manager says he's never heard of this recall and I should phone Subaru of America if I want to pursue the matter. So folks -- two questions. Has anyone else heard of this recall or, better yet, had his/her SVX repaired under it? Two, does anyone have a phone number for Subaru of America where I might get some action on repairing my car under warranty, if in fact it qualifies? Thanks, Lyle |

I just had the exact same thing happen to my 95... i replaced the knock sensors myself for around $110. I have never heard of this recall.

It wasn't a recall. It was a tech bulletin (number 11-46-95), and it can be covered under the Subaru emissions warranty if your vehicle is still covered. Applies to 92-95 SVXs
