maybe someone should argue with him about him really needing those parts.

Or about what color they are? Or what color the sky is?

Ultimately a good move by the Board, for the forum, though his knowledge will be missed.

Re: Continued disregard of rules, Permaban in place.

Trevor however blunt is a huge asset to this network. I firmly stand in his defense yes I'm just as sick of the fighting as everyone else, however some people need to learn to take things with a grain of salt. Trevor has offended me in the past but he has also helped me as well as other members on this site both directly and indirectly in a huge way. Banning him would be the most ignorant and childish thing to do.

That's my .02

Re: Continued disregard of rules, Permaban in place.

Hey, I don't know everything that goes on behind the scenes and I don't read every word on the forum, but I think that there is a different place to have swung the banstick that would have drastically reduced Trevor's verbal dross without sacrificing a contributing member.

I'm not second guessing, but trolls is trolls.

Re: Continued disregard of rules, Permaban in place.

seeing as how this site is slower than a snail stuck in road tar, it seems that losing a knowlegable member like Trevor is a bad thing.

i find it amusing that people can't either:

a) not read threads by Trevor, if they are so offended by him
b) simply use the mouse wheel to scroll past his posts
3) add Trevor to their ignore list

i could see if he was posting porn or threatening people's lives, but is some arguing in text form on car forum such a horrible atrocity?

So, are you calling all of the admins and mods childish and ignorant?*

Cause he's already banned.

Just curious, no threats implied or intended.

*I am sure your business ventures with Trevor have no bearing on your opinion.

From what I am reading in this thread, it would appear that you are in the minority here.

Also, let it be known that I agree his knowledge is a great loss to this community, but his delivery, is not.

If you are looking for a comparable situation, I would think that would be arguing with him when he says that your black car is actually white, not what he says about his stuff.

Arguing with Trevor about what someone else says Trevor needs would technically be arguing with the wrong person.
That challenge should be presented against the person that actually claimed that Trevor needed those specific parts.

I never had any complaints about how Trevor treated me... never.

The problem for me has always been how he treated others... regularly he would leave newer people with questions in a state of shock with his attitude and his pampas reply's.

I am deeply sorry for the accident that his wife had and will be praying that she is ok and that the repairs work out economically and well.

I did not ban Trevor and would never personally have, but the administrators know the whole story. I am sure they considered a lot of things and obviously it was a very difficult decision.

I respect them and their decisions and if I ever get banned, I will still respect that decision as well.

I'm with you on this one. I've been arguing on the internet for close to 9 years (the last 2 of which I seemed to have attained an enlightenment) and to be quite honest through my experience I have found the only people who can't handle an opinionated or strong-willed person are those whom probably should not be speaking in the first place even if just for the sake of their own volatility or "feelings".

I'm not going to pretend that I understand the situation better than those involved but I am questioning everyone's ability to either handle criticism or check their own prejudices and attitudes, be them aggressive or simply defensive. An argument is generally a 2-way street and accidents can't happen unless 2 opposing forces willingly cross the same path.

I think through the guise of appearing reasonable some would feign so-called maturity... I'm not able to name names, but this is just something I have learned.
---

Also, I do realize "those whom probably should not be speaking in the first place" is judgmental and harsh, but I stand firm by what I say. It was only a few short years ago that many here held that same opinion of me.

Re: Continued disregard of rules, Permaban in place.

Johnny, you have not been around long enough to endure the PITA he has been to so many people. I was once of your opinion as well... But then I grew to realize he was being an ass to get a rise out of people more than to get a valid point accross.

In short, Trevor knows a lot about a lot of subjects, but he does not know everything although he will argue till you are blue in the face that he does... Will use any discrepancy in your logic or presentation to hold your facts as nill and barred from credibility. Will attack anyone who second guesses him with an eloquent demeanor that crawls under the skin.

Plain and simple, he is not a nice person, although very bright.

Re: Continued disregard of rules, Permaban in place.

I think the best example why was in the cooling thread. Sure after it was finished you could scroll passed the arguing but while it was happening it was painful. I know if it was me trying doing all that set up and testing and trying to post results and keeping people informed and getting suggestions etc. I would have probably stopped bothering to post or do more. I don't think he "hurt" anyones feelings but regardless of the disagreement you might have there is a time when you just should stop and listen watch and wait, Trevor was like a pitbull with a taste for blood, he didn't want to let anything go.

On the flip side of that if he liked something he let you know, if he had the answer he volunteered it (if he didn't have the answer he still volunteered it), if he didn't like something he would say and it was a coin toss as to whether or not he would respect the effort or cost etc. Though I only speak of what I have seen in the threads I have read and lately I have been way more selective about what I read or submit on the forum.

Re: Continued disregard of rules, Permaban in place.

If you go through all Trevor posts I believe you will be amazed at the lack of meaningful contributions that could be attributed to Trevor. I am not talking about things that other people have already contributed that Trevor comes in with "hindsight"... like when the starting problem was solved correctly by replacing the defective 5 terminal relay and he chimed in that that was exactly what he thought it was... after years of us all stumbling around scratching our heads trying to work out a way to get our cars to start, including Trevor.
