Converterer Locking up
OK so a few weeks ago i had this problem and everyone told me it could be the converter locking up... but then the problem went away so i was hoping it fixed itself... But now it's back and i've been told its the converter locking up by the guy that changed my alternator... Only thing is that he doesnt know how to fix it... Can anyone give me an idea as to where to point him or what to do? Any help is appreciated!

Just like I mentioned in the other thread...have you ever changed your Engine Temperature Sensor?

Are you stalling out?? The converter locking up would cause quite a stall adn jerk the car( much like dropping the clutch out on a 5mt(ive never done it )) Anyway stalling could be many things from tps to a bad reading from a cam angle sensor. Check it out and let us know

If someone can find a tranny pin-out diagram that would be mighty helpful. If we can, you could tap the lock up clutch wire and read voltage when you think the converter is locking up... this would quickly and cheaply condemn or eliminate the TC locking up as your problem.
If after checking the voltage and you find out that it is in fact the TC locking up, then do as David suggested and try the engine temp sensor. Some questions i have... Does the SVX 4eat have its own tranny temp sensor? (it has an idiot light for it i believe) I would hope it does... The reason temp could cause this, is because the torque converter is the largest source of heat in the transmission. therefor, if the TCU thinks the tranny is hot, it may have "logic" built in to try and close the converter as often as possible, thus eliminating the heat source.

What temp does the tranny have to get to for the light to go on anyway?

Well i think tomssvx has pretty much got it... I'm actually headin out to the dragon tonight... Hopefully there will be some masterminds there that want to take a look at it! I'll let everyone know how it is when i get back next week.... Wish me luck!!
