Air cond wiring issue??

My AC quit working halfway through a long drive and I didn't bother with it at the time bacause it wasn't all that cold. But when I got home, I checked the wiring and the three wires that plug into the condenser (right next to the new alternator) had all of the insulation melted off of the wires just up to the place where the wires come out of the harness.

I taped them up for a check and the AC works fine. I had the car in for bearings and the mech checked the system out and said that everything was A-OK.

has anyone else seen anything like this? The insulation is only burnt about 3 inches and it's all three wires.

Never come across this before but it would scare me since whatever caused this to happen will definately happen again.

It could be possible that someone might have scraped the insulation off if they were working on the engine and placed something heavy on top of the wres and moved it around a lot. But they look burnt to me. I'm not going to replace the wiring until after the dragon meet just so others can look and check it out to be sure that the same doesn't happen to their car.

When I figure out how to set up a locker and add a pic, I'll put one in there.
