Anybody got a dead CD player?

We have a problem with our CD changer.

There is an oddly shaped plastic cog, part of the loading mechanism, which has broken. I assume it became brittle in the recent cold weather. Now the changer cannot pull the CD's out of the magazine.

I doubt that the part will be available from Subaru or Panasonic, so I was wondering if anyone had a dead changer that I could dismantle.

It's a JDM changer, but I think it is only cosmetically different from the UK one (and possibly the US/Euro ones?).

Failing that, does anybody know if it is possible to connect different changer (perhaps a newer panasonic one) to the factory head unit?

The label showing the model number.

Incidentally, I'm sure somebody posted recently that the CD players are held in place by velcro. Ours was bolted to a metal plate which in turn was solidly bolted to the floor. No velcro in sight.

Cool

Just kidding.

I'm sure you remember mine is the single CD type. Lower Japanese spec.

Check with Tony. There may be a changer in the one he is parting. Straight swop of the changer box and away you go!

Joe

Well, next port of call must be the For Sale and Wanted forum.

The US guys are always putting in new stereos. Sure to be a lot of changer boxes lying around in their garages.

Or try eBay?

Joe

You might want to contact paddlesnz from the network. These show up on the yahoo japan auction site quite often and he watches for things like that.
