Re: RADIATOR... cRaCk!.. HELP!?

It will fit perfectly and last for years. Just don't order an AC condenser, they're on back order and wont't be available any time soon.

Re: RADIATOR... cRaCk!.. HELP!?

I ordered from radsus. Had a leak on my first one which they exchanged for me. 2nd radiator is going on it's 4th or 5th year. Would definitely buy from them again.

Re: RADIATOR... cRaCk!.. HELP!?

Appeared to be exactly the same.. except drain plug had no included tube nipple. Are they remanufactured?

Seems to work too!

Thanks, Jim

Re: RADIATOR... cRaCk!.. HELP!?

YIKES! .. I'm driving along with my new radiator.. working to go to work for 2 (?) weeks .. ALL OF A SUDDEN .. Overheating.. YIKES! (typical 100 degrees F here in summer)
No radiator leaks
Coolant Overflow Tank full
No cap coolant spray evident
If AC on.. generally worse (or AC temp goes up from 40's and 50's to 80's!)
Gauge going up to red.. then back down near normal.. no obvious reason
But, later when cooler outside (85 degrees F).. still goes up a little with AC off!
Seems the only intermittent explanation.. could be THERMOSTAT???

HELP!!! Any Ideas Appreciated

Jim

Re: RADIATOR... cRaCk!.. HELP!?

New radiator.. worked fine 2 weeks..
New OEM thermostat at assembly of "rebuilt" engine.. (June)
New water pump..at assembly of low mileage engine (Nate/Pennsylvania-about Feb)
Put new Thermostat in this am with proper rubber gasket seal (thot that was it! Leaking a little under housing (wrong rubber originally!)..
Still overheating on way to work! Gauge @ 1:30 to 2 o'clock .. ???
Could it be the AC causing this?? HELP!!!

Re: RADIATOR... cRaCk!.. HELP!?

I quit using oem tstat's as iv'e have too many over 10 go bad in months. I use the failsafe ones at autozone with oem gasket now with no problems. Also make sure the system is bled properly.

Also are both fans kicking on?

I've been out of the car 3 or 4 times when overheating.. both fans on then!
I used an OEM gasket with my old (sitting around, but new) OEM thermostat when putting this engine together about June. Bought an OEM rubber gasket too.. It dint have center groove for thermostat sheet metal (???) .. So I think it caused leak below housing .. not sealed properly.. I just put rubber gasket on top of thermostat, then bolted.. dripping off a little last nite when I was checking around thermostat and looking for other leaks. Got Napa gasket which fits proper.. used Pep Boys Stant small (not OEM size-they make two) thermostat this morning with the proper gasket.. fit good now, but .. STILL STARTED TO OVERHEAT ON MY WAY TO WORK 30 miles away!

What about the air pocket I've been told about?? Is that the bleeding you're talking about? HELP!

Thanks, Jim

Re: RADIATOR... cRaCk!.. HELP!?

Raise the car about a foot or so in the front, with the motor cooled remove the rad cap and gentle squeeze the upper hose till all bubbles are pretty much gone, then make sure the rad is topped off. After that turn the car on with the heat on MAX with the rad cap off still and let it get to temp which will open the t stat and drop the coolantin the rad slightly. When you see no bubles put the cap on and shut the car off and you should be good.

Re: RADIATOR... cRaCk!.. HELP!?

What I do is pretty much what redlightning suggested, except I use one of these: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001A4EAV0/

Put that on where the radiator cap goes, then fill it up and keep some coolant in the funnel. Air will bubble out of it, and coolant will replace the air until there's no air left. The funnel's not necessary but it saves the trouble of having to constantly top off the radiator with coolant. Running the engine definitely helps tremendously with working the air out, by keeping the bubbles circulating until they get out through the funnel/rad fill opening.
