Re: Installling Engine: Flex Plate to Torque Converter

"Are both your front axles completely seated in the differential?" YES! with pins.

"You may try installing the FWD fuse too, if it is a US spec car this should make it front wheel drive." I will.. as Tom suggested too! But I don't know how that'll help? Seems like "wobble" will remain in front drive function?? And, can't remain in 2WD .. Right??

Thanks, Jim

IC.. But It worked OK before the engine swap.. and I live in Fresno, CA .. where it has been 95 to 107 recently .. with today's temp being 104 degrees!

The pins lock the inner joints to the stub shafts - but the stub shafts are located within the side gears of the diff by c-clips only - these are push/pull/snap type of thingies :-)

Make sure both are all the way in the diff.

With the fuse you may try to rule out the possibility that the "wobble" has something to do with the 4wd system.

Re: Installling Engine: Flex Plate to Torque Converter

To let you know what happened.. .

I called Tom last night (Monday) .. He said check the ground on the back of the intake manifold (pass side).. .

When I took off the intake.. prior to removing the engine.. I started to remove the bolt holding that ground wire connector to the intake. Then I decided to take the wire off WITH the intake! I then switched intakes.. using my old intake on the "new" engine.. When I put it back together.. and on the car.. the ground remained loose, but touching that bolt.. .

Last night. I tightened the bolt.. E V E R Y T H I N G ... W O R K S !!!

A Special Thanks to Tom.. and Nate (who refreshed and sent his low mileage engine to me from Far, Far .. Away) .. and for all their continuing support! Thanks for all members' support and help here also! It's what makes this website .. and SVX experience so great!

Thanks, Jim

Keep in mind.. The speedo, tach, coolant gauge, and cruise control didn't work at all. The AT shifted poorly. The engine idled with surges at times. In fact, the engine died while driving on the freeway yesterday. The CHECK ENGINE light was on constantly, and returned constantly after codes were cleared. IT ALL WORKS NOW! YIKES! I still can't believe it!

Congrats on fixing it. Seems like you've been working at the car for a while now, isn't it so satisfying when everything finally comes together?

Re: Installling Engine: Flex Plate to Torque Converter

Awesome! .. Tom was a life-saver! Nate did a good job on the engine obviously too!

I went from.. "Why did I try to fix this old car UP?? Now I have a worthless vehicle.. and I lost $5-6,000!".. two days ago .. TO..

"I can't believe that ground wire.. Tom's idea.. fixed Everything!!?? Now, I remember why I liked this car so much!!!".. yesterday.. .

Ya!.. Love the Yellow Poly bushing ride (my 2013 Hyundia Velostar is even stiffer.. STIFF!)

I bought the VLORPTR October 2012. I like it. BUT, I've now switched back to driving the SVX to work. I like it BETTER!

Thanks, Jim
