Bulldog remote starter install

I searched the archive and came up with Beav installing a bulldog unit in his car. Can you email me so that I can get some more info on this. A friend just gave me a remote starter unit and I wanted to install in my '92 but do want to keep my existing stock alarm system. I don't plan on using the remote starter very often so having two key fobs isn't a big deal.

Thanks.

i had a remote starter on my old winter beater and once it left me stranded (car would not start, with key, etc.) at a very inconvenient time, i might add. had it towed to the shop, where they bypassed it, and the guy said they see remote starters failing all the time. it was nice while it worked, but i don't think i'll be putting one in the SVX

Significant Technical Input
I haven't had any problems with the Bulldog unit on either car. The one in my jeep has been working for over three years now. I did put a different brand in my g/f's car back then and it hasn't been worth a flip since the first few months.

I just used double-faced tape to place the two remotes back-to-back. I only use the Bulldog for remote starting, but it has two more channels that could be used to pop the trunk and roll windows up/down or the sunroof open/closed. Bulldog has a pretty good site at www.bulldogsecurity.com If you have more questions you can ask them here or PM me. (look down at the bottom of this post... / )

how often do you use the remote starter, Beav? i have the Bulldog alarm, in addition to the factory alarm. i can't remember what the brand of remote starter i used to have was. if the Bulldog is reliable (warrantee?), maybe i'll reconsider. was it a PITA to install?

I use the remote daily, I figure I'm worth the expense of having a warmed-up car.

The Bulldog is no more a pain than any other, in fact their website has a pretty good database of wiring solutions for each model. The only problem I had was finding a place to tuck the box into, I ended up popping the wiper park switch and placing it there with the switch trapped just above the panel.

The only real problem is getting used to turning the radio off before parking the car. If you don't the radio sets the alarm off when the low bass hits...
