ok what does this sound like
ok i just bought a 92 svx, i havent done a thing to it i picked it up. it started fine drove it about 1/2 mile no forward gears but first, and reverse. it started slipping allot and then stopped moving and free revved like it was in neutrial after driving like 1/3 a mile. car sat for like fifteen minutes then i flat towed it like less then 1/3 of a mile then started it and drove it 100 ft with out a problem. i havent even checked the oil level yet i was in a hurry so any advice is appreciated, especially the obviouse

The obvious? OK, the tranny is gone. Anything else?
 I would check the fluid level and see what the level is. Smell the fluid and if it has a burnt smell, that is not good. What color is it? If it is black or very dark, that is not good either.
