how much can DC outlet handle?

I remember reading somewhere that the wiring in the SVX is not that heavy duty. What is the limit to the amount of stuff plugged into the DC outlet without causing too much problems? I usually have a radar detector and a cell phone adapter plugged. That seems to be fine. Now that winter is upon us, my girlfriend will want to start using the 4amp electric blanket (she is really spoiled). My last car handled it fine. I just want to see if anyone knows if this will cause a problem in the SVX.

Thanks,
Matt

Talking

Oh sure... First it's the blanket, THEN it's the hair dryer, the toaster & the microwave. Tell her you want a small trunk-sized diesel generator for Christmas.
Good luck.
Ron.

I was able talk her out of the coffee mug that plugs into the socket, but I'm just looking for trouble if I try to take away the heating blanket after a full day of skiing. It would probably be safer just to let the wiring catch fire and watch the car go up in flames.

Let me make sure I have this right. Its a DC powered electric blanket and it draws 4 amps on the 12 volt side. Correct?

It plugs into the cigarette lighter and it says that it uses 4 amps. I have to check, but I think the fuse for the cigarette lighter is only 5 amp, so I'm kind of worried about blowing a fuse and putting too much strain on the engine/alternator/wiring.

Significant Technical Input
Generally cigarette lighters are onh 15 amp circuits. You can check by looking inside the fuse box or in the owners manual.
