Thumbs up Auto Seatbelt fix

I think I may have fixed the Auto Seatbelt problem on my car. When I cut off the car and open the door the seatbelt would not retract. When I had the ignition on the belt would work fine. I took the panel off and tinkered with the belt sensor. Didn’t fix it… I then adjusted the striker for the door latch (I had noticed more road and wind noise coming from the door). Now when I open the door it opens with a nice “pop” and the belt has been working correctly for the past few days.

Just be careful if you do adjust the striker. When you loosen the two Phillips head screws, don’t loosen them too much or the plate will get out of whack. Just loosen them a little, and then gently tap the striker inboard toward the car. I just moved mine about a 1/16 of an inch.

Hope this helps.

Now… If I can just get my steering working…

Good Info, Paul
I'm sure it'll help some of us with the Auto seatbelts.

Thanks for sharing

Hey Huck,

Just got me some of the Lucas power steering stuff. I also bought another O-ring. I'll try it tonight and see if it fixes the problem. I am still think the fluid has gunked things up.

Later,

Paul
