Contemporary magazine test of SVX
Hi all.
Just uploaded a very bad scan of an article from last weeks "Autocar" magazine. This is a reprint of a contemporary road test of the SVX in the UK in 1992. Enjoy !! Phil. PS. May be persuaded to get a better scan if required..........

I obiously take acception to some of the "cons" listed in the article. "Although the engine falls short of greatness" was the biggest one. The engine is GREAT, in that it does what it does with the "kerb weight the wrong side of 1.5 tonnes." "Bridges the gap?" In my opinion it seals the gap at half and half. To everyone who asks about my car, I tell them that the SVX is the PERFECT blend of luxury and sport. Sure, you give up 0-60 time, but, did you see the 30-50 time? That's what a luxo-tourer is all about. I was impressed that speed specs were up there with the XJS. Plus, I'm sure that any problems had to occur as the results of the wheels being on backward.

"Poise throught the sweepers . . ."
Last Saturday, heading to Paoli for some ski, I was having an absolute ball with "poise" and "sweepers". (The drive to Paoli is in many ways superior to the skiing.) At one point, in a hard corner, the road fell away and I had this sublime sensation of drifiting off the apex, all four, completely neutral, and then grabbing hard once again and continuing without even having to catch my breath. The only similar sensation that comes to mind is being sideways under full power on a two-wheeler, feet up. What a joy!

0-60 in 8.7??? Road and Track had it at 7.3....a huge difference.
